Does anyone know of a reciever that has the ability to send out component or hdmi to zone 2?

I would recommend finding an active distribution amp rather than a passive Y cable. You will get better results that way.

Yes, but if I had component out to zone two, then i could watch whatever i wanted independent of zone 1.

This 4x2 component matrix switcher will certainly work but may be overkill for you application. I use it to watch 3 HDTV sources on 2 TVs with digital audio independently. I'm not sure why but I really like the idea of doing my audio and video switching with a dedicated switcher rather than my AV receiver. Good luck.
