Is this a dumb idea for DVD playback?

Thread Starter
Like many I have been thinking about all the front end and aTV stuff and all the issues about quality of sound and video etc. etc. And I came up with an idea. Tell me if this is dumb.

The problem with iTunes is that it won't play back full fledged Video_TS files with all of their sound and video quality (as I understand it). Would it be possible then to create a fake song in iTunes, say called "Gladiator", and then write a script so that when this fake song plays it automatically opens your movie located on some drive somwhere and then play the movie?

Maybe that's dumb, and maybe that's not too far off from what DVD Assist really is. But it is just an idea.

And on a side note, would that scheme at all make playing Video_TS on aTV possible?

Go ahead and make fun of me for not understanding this all

I don't find your idea dumb at all. In fact, you may be happy to hear that you are not at all the only one to want to try to do this. Perhaps I have good news for you: if you read this post, perhaps you will see that not only do other people want to do it, but someone has apparently figured out a way to succeed. I hope this helps you too.
