Anyone know of a good edition in multichannel format? Have any classic editions been remastered in SACD or DVD-A?

Have a look through this list.
Personally I don't see any performers in that list that would interest me playing this piece (maybe the Oistrakh disc but he was better with the Romantic period composers. Also the Siverstein/Boston Orch could be a good performance of the Four Seasons) but that's IMHO of course Neither of these discs would seem to be multi-channel though...

I have the Budapest Strings release and it's pretty good (good enough for me as it isn't my favourite work--so I don't feel the need to have multiple hi-res releases (I have several on CD already).

I'd recommend the Naxos version on DVD-A.

I actually just went to a BSO performance of Four Seasons a couple of weeks ago. While nothing compares to a good seat at a live performance, the Naxos version is an excellent recording in comparison IMO.

Ditto.

I'm quite enjoying my copy of Janine Jansen's SACD. It's for a very small arrangement, like 4 or 5 people. She playes the lead violin and I think it's her family members playing the other instruments.

Very passionate, very dynamic, and a lovely arrangement.

I'd recommend the Naxos DVD-A as well. I have it and it is quite nice (though it is not my favorite classical piece by any means so it is nothing I have looked for multiple versions of).

I also have the Naxos DVDA version and like it very much. Also available on SACD.

As per the review the extra tracks on this are a surround treat.

You could also try the Annie-Sophie Mutter on Deutsche Grammophon

I've not yet been disappointed with any Naxos hi-res releases--so I say, go for it.

I have the Mutter on DG (24/48, DG's DVD-A will all soon be extinct I believe) and that will do for the moment. This isn't the piece I'd want multiple versions on HD audio.

Another vote for the Naxos DVD-A, it's excellent.
