I am close to deciding on TH-58PX600u. However, I would like to resolve a question about the picture settings before pulling the trigger. Can I independently set the picture settings (contrast, brightness, color, sharpness etc.) for each input.

I don't have a Panny so I can't answer that, but I believe you started another thread where you were told this is not possible. If I were you, I'd search through the Panny thread that deals with this set. If you can't find your answer, ask in that thread - you can get an answer quicker in the dedicated thread because there are guys who watch that thread constantly.
