How does content authorization work on the CCST 3412

So i just moved back home from college and brought my 3412 back with me (havent had time to return it yet)...our comcast acct from college is canceled and my parents have dish not comcast for tv (just comcast internet), if i plug an analog tv into an activated cable outlet in the house i get nothing so im assuming there is some kind of filter installed in the house.

Anyway just for fun I decide to hook up the dct3412 and lo and behold i have access to all the channels that i used to pay for on my now closed account, however, the guide dosent load and on demand dosent work, also no dvr

so im curious, if the account has been canceled and i hooked this box up in a completely different city how does it still work...my hbo's and HD channels, and sports packages still come in, i have two more of these boxes and they behave the same way

It will work for a few days at most. Then the box will deauthorize.
