Hello all.
My Diamond Vision WS-55815 CRT RPTV has been giving me grief since I bought it nearly a year ago (with a much-justified 5-year warranty), but I haven't gotten around to making a stink about it until now.
The first nuisance is the perpetual hum from what I assume is the power supply. I believe there must be a cooling fan of some kind at fault because once when I moved the set the hum became unbearably loud and then returned to its slightly less distracting previous volume after I jostled it around a bit. Any ideas?
The second issue I've had is an infuriating tendency for the set to stop responding to controls. Whether it be the remote or the display-mounted buttons, there are times when it simply seems to "freeze" and then recover some moments later. For example, I may go to adjust the contrast and, once the OSD is on screen, my remote seems to not work. I can then walk right up to the TV and press the power button repeatedly with no response. After 30 seconds or so it will return to a functional state.
Needless to say, these are disconcerting developments for what was in its day considered a flagship television. Any advice would be much appreciated. I suppose I could just light a fire under the warranty folks, however.
