I am new to the site, but I am trying to keep Best Buy from coming out next week to fix my problem.
It seemed so easy at first. I bought from them about 2 years ago a Sony BR player, an Optoma projector and a Pioneer Elite 90TXV. Everything ran pretty smooth. I did have problems from time to time with the projector not recognizing a switch in inputs, but I didn't know if it was the projector or the receiver. Last Christmas I purchased a PS3 and I'm finally getting around to putting it in my entertainment room.
So, I removed the Sony BR player, and inserted the PS3. (Seemed simple enough) Now, I can't get the projector to display anything when it comes to the PS3. I can still watch my cable stations, but nothing when I switch inputs to DVD. I did uncover through the manual that I needed an optical cable for audio (which is stupid, but it's what I did to get sound). But at times, I get the sound of the PS starting up, but nothing after that and definitely no picture. I thought if I can get sound from the start up of the PS3, if I inserted a DVD I would still at least get the sound... but I get NOTHING! I know it's not the HDMI cable and I know it's not the projector, because I plugged the PS3 directly into the projector and it worked like a charm. However, being that the projector is on the ceiling and the PS3 and receiver are in a closet, running a 30 foot HDMI cable would not be fun (and expensive).
So, Please help if you can. I don't know if there is a setting I'm missing with the receiver, or if for some reason it needs repair. Sorry for the long string, but I'm trying to save myself a little cash this week. Thank you.
