So I have been suffering from the dreaded dancing green pixels for a few months now. I finally got around to calling Samsung about a month ago. TV is still under warranty until December (thank god). They sent a tech out, and he replaced a board inside the TV, but that didn't fix the problem. That was about a month ago.
So I called Samsung again on August 20th, and set up another service call. This time, I actually made sure to ask about their repair policies, and how many times they would try to fix it before I would get a replacement. The CSR told me they try fix it 3 times, and if the problem remains, then I would be offered a replacement TV. Seems fair enough to me.
The tech finally got the parts in earlier this week, and he came out this morning. This time, he replaced 2 boards. The sparkles actually seemed to get worse. He said that he has done everything he can at my house, and the final attempt to fix the TV would involve me having to take my TV into their shop, and leave it there for a few days. That would leave me without a TV for who knows how long.
I called Samsung after he left, and asked if it was normal procedure for the repair guy to take the TV out of my home, after all, it is supposed to be an IN-HOME warranty. The CSR I talked to was clueless. I then asked about the 3 times to fix it, and get a new TV thing, and again, the CSR had no idea. So I finally asked him if he knew what model TV they would replace the TV with, if it comes to that (I'm sure it will) and all he could tell me was "they will replace the TV with the same model" I told him the TV was 2 years old, and they don't make this model anymore. He then said they would replace it with a comparable current model, but yet, he couldn't tell me which one?
The sparkles have gotten ridiculously bad. I really doubt that anything they can do at their shop will fix this problem.
What TV's has anyone else been offered as a replacement for this model? I've read that some people get the 550, and some people get the 650. Any help is appreciated
