Here are a few quick shots of the new towers from AV123 (Onix). They are the X-series MTM and SLS towers. Sound and look great!

The MTM are quite taller than the SLS, if I am not mistaken, they are close to Mini height arent they?

Thanks for the pics BTW, and outstanding setup you got there!
You lucky guy. I am still waiting for mine. Not getting the towers, just the x-ls, x-cs, x-sub. I have been waiting a while. I got in on the Mascarey which should also be very nice looking.

x-ls and SLS? I'm amazed they didn't call the MTM the XXLS!

I thought about it... j/k - first I have seen of those names...

They ARE really big in person... (x-mtm)...

All the best...

They look big indeed, perhaps even a tad taller than the Minis based on my eye balling comparison. :-)

XXLS? That sort of remainds me of my Grandpas shirt size!

Since I have always prefered the X-CS slightly over the X-LS, I assume that I will probably prefer the MTM over the SLS but who knows... :-)

A bit more eye candy in case anyone is interested.

MTM, SLS, and CS on top

Really nice finish. They look great.
They look very good except for the speaker cover.
i'm NOT trolling, but honestly, those aren't very attractive looking speakers imo. I'd love to know how they sound though.

Good question? He doesn't like ID speakers.

I constantly flip-flop on the "unique" grills of the X-series. Sometimes I really like them because they're so different; other times they look like extra packaging that someone forgot to take off. I find they look much better against one of the wood-grain finishes, personally.

That said, boy do I want a rosewood set of these things.
Yep, they look like speakers, alright. The questions is (and should be)...how do they sound???
I might like the speakers themselves, I just don't enjoy the business model. I so wish I could hear them locally. And that their grilles weren't shaped like that.

They ARE awesome IRL... and the veneer variants are so majestic and beautiful (IM not so HO)...

I guess I will let the cat out of the bag here and mention that we have (in fact) come up with another grill... I love "the snowmen" myself... but the new one is quite elegant / beautiful - simple in design and really well executed...

I also agree with you that they look quite fine against the veneer guys...

All the best...

May I humbly ask you to pick up the next issue of Home Theater Magazine... There will be a lovely review of the entry level x-series products that is in many ways... the finest review I have ever received in any company I've owned over these last 37+ years...

In short... they sound quite fine...

All the best...

Happy to send you a set so that you can listen to them yourself (my nickel)... You are welcome to take the grills off the current models - or wait a few weeks for speakers with the new grill(s)...

I'm delighted to engage your interest - if you'll engage mine...

Wishing you all the very best...

I'm not a huge fan of the grills either, but I think the speakers look great with them off. I love the black finish. More importantly, I have started to test them out for music and so far I'm extremely happy with them. I'm using an Onkyo 674 to drive them, no issues so far. To me they look good and sound great.

The wife had a bit of a meltdown when she saw them, I think she was expecting something along the lines of little Bose cubes I think she will be happy with the sound quality, so in the end we will both be happy.

The grilles should follow the form of the speakers. I'd never use them if these were mine.

I was just about to purchase the Ascend 340's SE speakers mains and center. As a matter of fact they are in my basket now. Now these speakers caught my eye. I wonder how they compare in sound to the Ascends. Damnit why did I have to have a wondering eye.
What to do..what to do

Any word on pricing?

Pricing on the AV123 stuff? Sure, it's on their site: http://www.**********/products_catego...akers&brand=55

$449 for a pair of the MTM towers. Great bargain in my mind.

Thanks for the excellent pic's!! The prices on the av123 web site are for purchase within the United States. I read over at the av123 forum that they are maybe looking into retail expansion into Canada? I hope this becomes true! Obviously you didn't mind the incurred cost, BUT for some it's a deal breaker.

Good Luck & Enjoy your new speakers they look awesome, Billy p

Mark offers up a free listen to the ID business model hater

Just incase blackacex2 missed that
Mark,

Are the new grills going to be interchangeable with the old ones?
California Joe,

Since both companies have a 30 trial period, you should buy both and compare them side by side and send back the ones that you don't like as much. A side benefit for the rest of us is a review of the two .

I'm up in Canada as well, even with the extra shipping cost and duty it's still a good deal. For the price, I don't think I can do better in Canada. I was looking at Axiom, but in the end went with AV123.

New grills? Some boring old boxy thing? Are you trying to push me into ordering far before my planned "new speakers X-mas" just so I can get in on the old snowman grills before they're replaced?
Wish I had room for a setup like that! I'm jealous because I have to look into bookshelf models.
