WoW...monsters!! I would love to hear those! I am surprised you haven't popped a window yet!?

On a side note: A year ago my wife's best friend and husband moved down by you (we're close to Sac)...I thought Fresno...WHY? After going down there though I thought Clovis was a cool little town. We went to a couple of the little bars down there. My wife's friend was trying to convince us about moving down there...I agreed as long as she paid for my mortgage since I couldn't relocate my job

Hey there! Thanks a lot! Yeah, Im surprised I havent broken a window either. Maybe in time. Hehehe...

Hmmm...can't vouch for Fresno too much nowadays. I grew up here and moved to Clovis when I was 19. A few years here in Clovis now, its much nicer than Fresno...if you had to compare them. Clovis is nice and growing exponentially. There are new houses and apartments going up all around my neighborhood. Apparently, its cheap to live around here.

If you are in the area I could do a "little" demo.

It would be worth your time to demo to see the look on their faces first when they see those and then when they hear em.

I was serious about the window though! Maybe because they are triple paned? BTW why would you have a triple pane window...I didn't think the cost would be worth the energy savings with the climate we have here?
BTW should I bring ear protection next time I drive to Clovis?

Hehehe....nah, shouldnt be nessesary. They arent that loud.

Triple pane windows werent in the norm when we moved out here so we have double paned windows. They are very much worth it, dunno about triple pane. Plus we had almost all out windows coated with a film to hold in temperature. Keeps the house from getting hot during the summer and keeping the heat in during the winter. Now that film was definitely worth it.

Gotta ask, does the M3 in you username mean you own a M3? Thats one of my favorite cars. Ill let you test drive my subs if I can test drive that beauty. Heheheh.

My sub are done.
Amazing.
Not painted though.

Tomorrow.
She's loud. Bahaha.
Double pane are a must...I thought I read you have triple pane. The coating I think you are talking about must be that low E2 stuff...good product. BTW yes my name refers to my cars color (Avus <- hottest color on any production car!) and the model M3. Here's a pic:

The husband of my wifes friend is a cool guy. He like's M's as well. He just bought a SRT10 Ram and wanted to race me. Last time we visited him I drove my car down there averaging ~110 mph (no comments on safety, you haven't been on hwy 99 at 3 am....the semi's do around 90mph). Anyways, he backed down. As for the test drive...my wife doesn't really get to drive it so....

BTW clear oem euro tails are on the way!

Nice E36, Avus. The color doesn't look that far off from my S4, which is "Santorin blue". Are those genuine BBS RC wheels? Classic design.

Yep..damn your good. Sometimes I rock them without the BBS centers. Yes Santorin is very nice and close but Avus has a purple flake in it...unlike any other paint I have ever seen. The depth and hue are amazing! Hard to pick up with a cheap sony cam. It seems that most manufacturers are lacking in the blue department anymore?? Not a popular color choice or something?

I am going to go with an IB setup in the previous owners grow room or maybe garage?. I will write a full review with pics!

Hehehe, tell me about it. Hwy99 is fargin' crazy! Id get the "full excursion" outta my M3 motor if I had one on there too. Btw, is that a 'Dinan' badge on the left side? What kind of upgrades have you put in there?

Between me, you, my sleeping wife at the time, and the rest of the internet I did push it to 140mph 2 times (once up and once down). I have MANY things done to it but don't want to waste thread space here. You can see more at this link:

I thought about selling it because I needed a truck but have since changed my mind (for the time being, who knows what I will finally decide) and am looking at a older cheap Toyota truck.

BTW looks like a change of plans...Ficaraudio is going to offer a redesign of their "Q" specifically for IB that will have an xmax of 30mm for $209!! Won't be advertised except to shack members. Will take 600w to xmax at 20 hz. I should be displacing around 29L of air with 4 of em!

How are your subs scott?

Mine is broken in quite well. I have an urge to build another.

Someone on youtube doesn't like me

Quote:
"No, you just can't stand someone correcting EVERYTHING you do little guy. I'm sure my almost 12 years of being on this earth more than you gives me an edge on knowledge. Plus my 10 years of extremely hi-fi Home Theater install/sales experience helps me too. CDs have been around longer than you dude. People don't like me because I tell them how it is. 99% of the time I'm just trying to help. If you look up everything I tell people in Google or wherever... You will see I am correct. I mean, you try to tell me that you make $2,000 a night DJing... Yet, I look at your videos, and can 100% see that you really have no money. You have a ghetto ass setup, **** DJing/"Home Theater" equipment. I am a DJ, my amp alone is more than I'm sure you make in a year... It's a Crown XTi 2000, then add my light control, CD player (which I don't use anymore, I'm strictly laptop now) CD controller, mixer, speakers, lights and over $500 in cables alone. Then we come to my Home Theater... Which, does need some help, but remember this, my house is being built as we speak... So, I'm temporarily in an apartment until it is finished (hence not the best setup in the world)... But, I have all the equipment ready to go into my Theater room. Also, I am upgrading my speakers, amps AND receiver. I need something with TRUE DD HD, and TRUE DTS HD... Do you even know what that is? Or how it works? Or what plays in those formats? What about their bitstream?
Everything I own (besides my speakers) is THX certified. ****, my power center alone is probably more than you can bring in 6 months working at McDonald's. I eat **** you call a "theater" for breakfast. So, before you open your little kid mouth.... Think about people that have WAY more knowledge than you, and have been doing this before you were born. I applaud you for trying, but it's not working. Especially calling your "DJ room" a "home theater", just sad. I wish you would just understand that building a home theater means more than buying some ****** speakers in a box, mixing them with other crappy speakers, getting a cheap ass receiver, and nigger-rigging it all up. Just because you have 10 speakers surrounding you, that is NOT a home theater. If you had as much money as you state, this would NOT be an issue, then you would for SURE have a theater most would envy. But, since you're working for minimum wage, you can't get ****. I mean, you still live at home with mommy and daddy (if daddy is still in the picture)... A true home theater requires voice-matched speakers NOT made of plastic or metal. Then pair it with a nice receiver/amp with all correct connections, good power rating, and VERY low THD, do you even know what THD is? I doubt it. Or, do you even know what it means? I mean, building a 25 cubic foot sub box? PLEASE answer me these questions... What sub are you putting in it? Give me the model number please. Because, I PROMISE you the specs in NO WAY require anything that large. You're so young and immature you think the bigger the box, the more bass... Silly child. What are you going to use for your LFE input, and sub controls, and power supply? PLEASE ANSWER ME! Also, what kind of HDMI cables are you using? Are you using Digital Optical, or Digital Coax? What is your "Home Theater" receiver model? Just answer those, and I'll leave you alone. I'm done here... Just wanted to show you how stupid you really are. Thanks little guy! You made my day!
Then I suppose I am a nigger. I spelled not one word incorrectly, and used near perfect punctuation/grammar. I am 100% fat. I honestly don't know where you're coming from thinking I have poor smart, I mean, my "...'s" can get annoying, but that's not really poor smart, just annoying, lol. But listen, you keep saying (for months now, actually) that you're gonna take all these videos of all your "good ****", yet you still have yet to produce these. As for your "car", A: I doubt it, B: Corvettes suck, lol, C: Good luck finding one, D: Good luck affording that EVER. Anyways... I still even doubt you get $700 an event. For a couple reasons. A: That kind of music really isn't that popular, not a big audience following. B: My old friend is a wonderful DnB DJ, performs all over, New York, Chicago and Detroit to name a few... Even a couple after-party events after a DJ Irene show, that paid I think only $100, which most events pay, even in a big city like Detroit and Chicago (pretty much the home for House/DnB-ish type music. It's just a fact. I'm really not trying to rip on you, I just know how this business works... I've been DJing since before you pretty much started grade school.
One more little thing... There is no such thing as "no distortion"... That will ALWAYS occur, even with the highest of high end processors and speakers. And to be honest, that Pioneer Elite you have, has .09% THD, while not bad, isn't very good. Try to get something around .05% THD. Mine is .07%, and that cost me almost $3,000. All my cables are the Monster M series. Are you running any sort of power center? A home theater is never a theater unless you have at least a decent $150 one. Ok, I'm done here... Lets stop this lame arguing... It's pointless for both of us, and I need to find something better to do... I am selling my Polks and my Onkyo receiver if you wanna buy them... lol

See ya dude."

Some people in this world just need to chill...

Seriously.
He got mad at me for nothing. Just came out of nowhere and started crap.

he said: 25 cubic foot enclosure?? That's ****ing retarded... Do you even know what you're doing? That makes NO sense. I have NEVER heard of ANY subwoofer with specs for that size. What are you using to power this? Is it a TRUE Home Theater subwoofer? Does it have an LFE input? But still, your "upstairs theater" is no theater at all... It sucks. Just a bunch of ****** speakers randomly placed

Me: It's DIY.. The RL-P18 excels in a larger enclosure, allowing a much lower tuning. I have mine tuned at 10hz. Why must you insist on trying to put my stuff down?

Him: Dude... It's called ********! All of your HTIB **** is junk. You just honestly have NO clue what you are doing. Almost all of your speakers are cheap little plastic pieces of ****. To call this a home theater is just wrong. You should call it "a big piece of really ****** **** that my broke-ass put together"... That is what you should call it.

That was an hour ago.
I don't have a HTIB..

No video of my RL-P18. Just off topic. He's been goin on that video insulting it like crazy.
He messaged me on the really long part.

The part that was in comments is here.

'Spezzy' is my account, obviously. My friend said in a comment to him that the HTGUY account was also mine so I kinda have to cover up here and there. ex. Saying the plasma is mine, etc.

Thats what we like to call a blissful "audiophile". Go ahead and spend all of your money on things which make so little difference yet cost thousands of dollars. If it makes you feel better than other people and thats what you need, go right ahead. But DONT yell at other people because you can afford better equipment than them, thats just low. He really must have some self-esteem problems because most people who are actually into this type of equipment dont spend their days searching youtube for videos to make fun of people.

Conclusion? Hes a loser.

Edit

I just added this comment to youtube...

"Wow! You're such a loser! If you're so high and mighty in the audio world, then why must you pick apart this guys system. Also being a biggot doesnt help your public image either. Honestly, a professional should NOT be calling people names. Also, are you "in the closet"? Because all you seem to say is, "your fagot mouth.", "how gay is that?". Just two examples. If you're really set on insulting him, how about bringing about something that actually makes sense? You're trying to make him seem senseless, yet you appear even MORE senseless by using no logical arguments except for he is the scum of the earth and so is his sound system.

If you're insecure because of a mid-life crisis, which it clearly seems like you are. PLEASE stop being an idiot on youtube and get some help."

YAY! Rants! This guy really isnt a professional, hes most likely some kid whos incredibly jealous. However if this guy IS who he says he is, then im begining to wonder what kind of people put up with this.

Wow, I get angry at people for things which arn't really my problem.

Edit 2.
Sorry if a seem a little hateful towards those who have made larger investments in sound... I really dont mean that in a generalization. Its more of potential analysis of one particular person.

Mmm...yes. Thanks for the YouTube contributions.

Spezzy. You know what? Dont give a rip about what anyone has to say on YouTube. Seriously. The things this guy said...ugh. Not only is he grasping for every straw but he just is an idiot. The kind of guy that will say his Logitech "THX" computer speakers are better than...anything cause they have a THX sticker on them. The kind of guy who says 18's are always "slow" The kind of guy that things that the power rating on a sub/speaker is a rating of quality. The kind of guy who thinks his $300 JVC camcorder is better than your Canon HDXL2 with 3CCDs simply cause it comes with a 300x digital zoom. Yikes. Some people out there.....they just take all the cake and run with it.

*ahem*

Anyways.

Thanks for the thread bump. Ive been meaning to come in here and update. Ive rearranged my subs a couple of times to see if I can make any changes to the FR. Remeasuring them in the corner and corner, EQ'd and non-EQ'd was getting old. Big dip in the 40's. So I had an idea that maybe symmetry was making for rough FR's. What I did (sorry, didnt take a pic) was take the sub on the left and twist it so it sat similar to how my first pics were when they were stacked. Facing frontward with the right sub perpendicular pointing into the right corner still. Took so measurements (will post them later) and was very surprised. Not much difference! Argh! A quick dip at 45hz with the same peak around 25hz and 35hz. Aggh! Although the 55-90hz region was very smooth. Mmmm.... getting somewhere.

Next, just yesterday actually, I tried twisting the right sub again. This time facing left as well. So now I had a sub driver about in the middle of the room. Directly behind my tv and the right sub is still in the right corner. (its a PITA to get to the right sub) Finally got the 40's up a bit. Still have a peak at 25hz and 35hz. Ugh. Whatever. I EQ'd it to look go on paper and played back the Earth destruction sequence on Titan A.E. about a half dozen times. Sounded pretty good. Got a little frustrated so I gave up for the night. After Xmas I will most definitely try a few other things. I still need to see what would happen if I have both drivers in the middle of the room.

Mmmm....yep. They sound great, that goes without saying. Its just....my room. Bleh. On the other hand I got to playback some tones while doing that yesterday. Ahh, theres just something about watching my closet door pump at 6 or 7 hertz. Watching my windows jiggle like jelly at 17-18hz. Ahahah!

*groan* on a sidenote...detected moderate air leakage around the drivers at such low frequencies. UUUUGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!! Gonna have to *groan* lift up them drivers and so some shoddy sealing. Can someone just come over and do if for me?

Lolz!

Anyhooo....I will keep you all updated.

Have a Merry Christmas you guys.

Hey fellas! Still rockin over here. Recently been enjoying good ol bass from my recently acquired Xbox 360 Elite. There is lots of 20hz bass in games nowadays.

Still have my cabs oriented like I previously mentioned. Both are pointed towards the right wall. So one driver is directly behind the tv and the other is firing into the right wall. I may still try having both in behind the tv. Just havent gotten around to it yet. Been pretty happy with the sound. Its even EQd. Those who have been paying attention would note that I have mentioned that I dont like EQ, even for bass. Seems as soon as I turn on music I really hate it....heheh. Though I have been watching movies and playing games to really notice.

Like I said, pretty happy with these subs. Its really sweet to know that I never have to worry about bottoming them out either. They just go loud and go deep.

After I posted the last msg I went in behind the tv with a power drill and tightened all the mounting screws I can reach. Some of them seemed a little loose. Eee-gad! Havent tested for anymore leaks though I havent been pushing them too hard lately. Not too hard.

I have a cute story though. On Xmas night I had dinner with the family at my uncles down the street. My dads cousin was there and we always talk tech. We were talking about the Xbox's we had and my Uncles projector. It isnt a fantastic projector but it gets the job done. Then we started talking about home theater packages and speakers we had. My dads cousin was saying how big speakers weren't "in" nowadays and that its all about 'Bose' (yes, seriously) or inwalls speakers that you dont "see". Thankfully, I didnt have to boast too much cause my dad and uncle were touting my setup. Saying that we built them, how big they are...how much they weigh and all.

Got him and his wife over. Played the 'Creaking Pipes' chapter from the Haunting DTS and played WotW ch 5. His wife loved how you could "feel" the bass. And he was sold too. After the demo he said, "Alright...forget the Bose. Yours are better."

Damn, that feels good.

Sorry couldn't resist

That's a great story, Scott! I had some people over a week or so ago and did the WoTW demo also. I kept my eye on the clipping lights on the CE4000 and was ready to turn the volume down on the AVR if it got too out of hand. At one point, I thought I heard one little "pop" which kind of freaked me out, but maybe it was my imagination or something else that made the sound.

Dave... still got your RL-P18s?
