Official 2007-2008 Mitsubishi WD-**733 DLP - Page 5

Found a new 65731 for around $1900. I liked the features on the 731 and the review at CNET, but the salesman at Best Buy told me it was discontinued and they had no more. The 65732 and 65733 are availible at BB for $2900 and $2600. I want to replace a 6 year old Hitachi 60". Also, from what I understand, I will still need to run through my Set Top box from Direct TV. Does this affect the picture quality at all? Any insight into which TV to buy would be greatly appreciated.

Any word on when the wd-65734 and 65833 will be hitting stores?

One more question do you know what those 2 models are retailing for?

My cable box has DVI out. Which HDMI in/audio input would I use if I am going DVI (from STB) to HDMI (TV)?

I am planning on getting the 65833(wish it was late july not august). Can someone measure from the bottom to the remote sensor? I am wanting to put my center speaker in front of the TV and want to know if I have space.

anyone know if the new 65733/833 can accept 1080P over component?

The 833 series are the first DLP TV's I've seen that have the new feature found on many of the newer LCD flat panels.....120 Hz refresh rates.

Is this something that will actually improve smoothness for fast action scenes on DLP sets? Has this been effective on the LCD flat panels?

This is the only feature in the 833 series that makes me consider it over the 734 series. I'm not really interested in the other features, especially the blue glow from the speakers, which I consider a negative. I sure wish the 833's were out now so i could see the difference (or not).

Question about the optional base for 65" sets............

The optional base is said to be available for the 733 and 744 but not for the 833. Is there a physical reason why the base can't be used for the 833 or is it just because the base has a flat finish and the 833 has a glossy finish? If I don't care about the finish can I use the MB-65PB base with the WD-65833?

Read the review someone posted c/o the mitsubishi stand. I don't think you would want one after that review. With the 833 the stand probably will collapse or the tv will break. Best buy has a nice one that fits pretty well with the mitsu. it is the bush one that is on sale this week. I just ordered that one with the mitsu 65733 tv from best buy.

Can somebody from Walts please comment on the quality of the Mitsubishi stands, especially the MB-65PB. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply! I'm concerned about strength. Someone left a bunch of reviews on amazon about mitsubishi stands. Here's his review:

"I'm a welder fabricator by trade, I was planning on building a stand for my 65" Mitsu and should have stuck with my original plan.

The Good:
Color is perfect

The bad:
Top shelf sags/bows with the weight of the TV on it.
The other two shelves are not wide enough to put three components across. In other word if you want to put three componads on one shelf you have to stack two of them.
Took over two weeks to get here from Amazon.
Sits directly on the floor, it's missing feet.
Did I mention that the top shelf bows.
Because of the bow on the front of the top shelf the screen is now slightly angled downwards.

I had to give it one star beacuse the was no zero or negitave. "

So, after reading that review, which he posted in a lot of different places, i'm concerned about the strength of the stand.

Are there any reviews for the wd-65733. Is there any improvement with HDMI 1.3 with bluray/ps3? How does this new set compare with other brands in picture quality?

First and foremost, if there was a logical way not to spend my big screen dollars at sears I would not by choice and good reason. With that said, Sears has a ransom credit for a WS-65311 that they bought back from me due to service complications.

Anyone know when the following will be at sears.

According to mits tier 2 callback support they have shipped to the retailers. Not sure what that means for sears but they did claim that sears will not be carrying the diamond series however a rep or department manager should have access to order them under special circumstances from the manufacturer. I wouldnt trust that as far as you can spit though.

15 years ago when i worked for sears we had a cats system or something that you could order anything by the vendor model number, not the sears sku.

I am patiently awaiting the arrival to sears for these new mits lines. As of right now they are trying to dump the toshiba on me and I have news for them. I will not accept a the toshiba set. I will only a 65" mits. I will also require them to give me a stand seeing how my crt has a base built into it.

With all due resect to sears I did not select a magnavox or thompson television set when i spent my hard earned money on a mits 65" CRT ...Why would I not think about my decision now as well.

Sears customer service is just the pits these days, and the people they have working at the warranty centers are just astonishing with their attitudes and knowledge levels.

I just bought a 65734 today and it should be delivered to my house on the 25th. I just had to get this week it b/c it came with a free Toshiba HDA2 HD DVD player plus the 5 free movies.....and I'm tired of not being able to pull the trigger. Also this morning the wife said "when are you gonna get your tv"? so I could not resist. I found it at Hhgregg and added the 5 year warranty. I ended up paying 2730 with tax, the warranty, HD DVD player, and delivery(I live almost 1 hour from the store) I got the tv for 2099.00 I guess they are not sure how to price it yet. I went in the store with my mind made up and set on getting the 732 but they had both of them in the store and this one had 4 hdmi inputs(one up front) and a few other features so did I make a good decision or mess up by not getting the 732 model? I cannot find any reviews on this tv yet and I know its new but I hate to spend 3 grand on a tv that I know very little about but I did anyway.

Steinfire...let us know what you think of the TV...you said you saw it in a store?..How did it look. I'm selling my SXRD70XBR2 in order to get back to a Mits. I'm thinking of waiting until Aug for the 65833, however, the 64734 has everything I need. But I can't find it in any store to see the picture.

I loved the picture on it.....when I walked in they had it hooked up to a sd channel and I asked them to hook up a HD-DVD player that was on a tv next to it. When they turned it on in HD I just thought right away ,ok I want it but I messed around with the settings and sources for over 45 minutes before I finally decided to get it. I don't have a stand for it yet b/c my wife wanted to have a say in the purchase of a stand. She said I could pick the tv if I let her pick the stand and thats fine by me. I could have had it delivered on monday the 18th but we are on vacation right now and I wanted to have time to get home and move my old 32" tube out along withe the entertainment center. Wanted to have time to get a stand put together too. I will post up pictures and more info when I get it.

The store I found it in was HHgregg in Macon, Ga

I'll have to see if the hhgregg store in Akron has these on display when I drive over there next week. There's certainly no one else around here that has one.

You are a lucky dude, to be able to get this set at this price. HHgregg does not exist here in Florida. So I ordered the 65733 from my local best buy for 2599. It should arrive tommorow June 16th. I did compare the mits to the tohsiba 65". The colors were much better. The picture seemed to pop out compared to the toshiba which seemed duller. The screen also looked bigger on the mits. But that illusion may be due to the small stand the tv is built on. The only thing my wife did not like is the at the tv is not flush with the tv stand like the toshiba is because of that small stand. The color of the tv is not shiny black like the toshiba. To her the mits therefore looks more old fashioned. But I care more about the picture. I am excited to try blu-ray movies/games with the PS3
Were you able to compare 65733 with the 65734?

I have an older Mits 52628 paired with a Toshiba XA2 HD DVD player. I think you will like how the Mits and the A2 pair together. Love my Mits and my XA2. They make beautiful movies together.

I have my Mits paired with a Panny BD player as well. Like the Toshiba HD DVD player, my Panny blu-ray makes beutiful movies with my older 52628.

So I got the wd-65733 yesterday. The picture is very nice. Here is the problem. The tv sits on a little stand. so when putting it on the stand from best buy it is sitting too high. Your eye level is the lower third of the screen. I feel like I am looking up at the screen. I am sitting 9 feet from the tv so that may be a problem. So unfortunetly I plan to send this back and get the toshiba 65HM167 which sits flush on the tv stand and is therefore of lower height.
