Thread Starter
This coming from someone on the McFarlane forums so take it with a grain of salt.

"300 arrives on July 31

1-Disc DVD (either FS or WS) - $28.98
2-Disc Special Edition DVD - $34.98
Blu-ray - $34.98
HD DVD+DVD - $39.98

There's a strategy game that's on the HD DVD version.

This comes from a Warner sales sheet."

Great... Combo format

My guess is Best Buy will sell the BR version for $5 below its MSRP, while the HD DVD version will be sold at its MSRP

Either way.... this movie will be mine

This movie is sold one way or the other! It is a must have for me.

Maybe one of them is a feature to superimpose Leonida's "THIS IS SPARTA" face, among others, on top of the movie, let us type up a message, and e-mail the image over the internet.

Can't wait for the HD DVD, I'm sure it'll have some great special features... Too bad it won't have the "300: PG Cut" trailer that's on youtube... That is pure brilliance.

this is CAKE TOWN!!!!

BRUSH YOUR TEETH!

yea that video had me laughing so hard.

Can't wait for this disc to come out, I want to go over some of the battle scenes in slow motion since there's so much going on.

Still no preorder on Amazon?
I hope this turns out to be one of the best transfers. I would be so happy to have people over and watch in on the 106" screen. maybe sell some people on HD
post #9 of 86
I hope its a little less grainy than in the theaters! In some scenes at the begining it looked like there was a swam of bees
post #10 of 86
Well at least its not a TotalHD disc.

Say it ain't so! The low resolution aspect of it would make it a perfect candidate for IME to play alongside the original 300 trailer. Yet another reason to shell out the extra 5 bucks for the HD-DVD versoin.

As long as it's not a TotalHD, I'm fine with it!

That thought never even crossed my mind; it seems like the film-makers already did the battle scenes in slow-motion so you wouldn't have to do it yourself.

Touché :P

Is this going to have Dolby TrueHD?
I'm definitely getting this, can't wait to see what they have cooked up for the HD DVD version in terms of IME.
If the Blu ray version is a lot cheaper I guess I know which route to take otherwise I will get it on HD DVD...
I'm leaning towards that myself Joerod now that I have blu-ray as well I can pass up on the combo disks and get the br version. I despise the combo disks and not so much for the extra $5 as to annoyance of not having the "art cover" side on the disk. I swear everytime my wife loads one of these damn things it is with out fail on the SD side

Definitely picking this up on BD. Thanks for the date info.

Weird, wonder how that'll work.

I have a feeling Warner will give this the TrueHD treatment...the only question remains whether or not the BD version will as well. We already can assume they'll have identical video encodes.

Great BD & HD-DVD. I'll buy the one that has the best audio soundtrack. Which basically means I'll be buying the HD-DVD .
I really hope Warners gives the BD a PCM mix.

I agree which ever gets the best audio gets my buck.

I'm buying whichever one has the Maroon case.

Blood Diamond is getting PCM. Iwo Jima is getting TrueHD.

But everyone is certainly going to bitch about the digital grain. It's probably more noticable on BD/HDDVD.
Why is it NOT a TotalHD movie? Is that idea just done with?
It's bad enough it's a combo... don't taunt fate.
The red casing for HD-DVD seems more fitting for this title :-)
Did they say for sure "combo" or are we just assuming since it's $5 more.

Maybe the game is $5?
