I would like to order the LN-T5265f from Amazon but would like to return it if it is defective and incur no shipping costs and get a full refund and then purchase the same set from J&R, which is currently out of stock and will have a shipment coming in around late June. Can this be done? What do you guys think?
I would like to know if Amazon is shipping the LN-T5265F with the 1024/1008 firmware/hardware combination that is arguably not giving anybody any problems? Can anybody confirm this please?

Thanks

I ordered that set on the 29th and it will be delivered to me tomorrow. I will post the board/firmware information. As for the shipping costs, Amazon states that as long as they did not make a mistake, the customer is responsible for the cost of return shipping...although I have heard cases in this board where the customer was offered a full refund because of the set being defective/having an older version.

I am getting my LNT5265F on Friday and will let you know what board & firmware I receive.

Thank you. I have been anticipating this response. Very much appreciated.
When did you order your set?

Thanks

Great job. Hopefully it gets forwarded to the CEO or the North American president of sales.

Gah the price at Amazon for the 4061 is sooo cheap!

Has anyone bought the 4661 from frys online recently? I want to order it and I am wondering what hardware/software version they have been shipping with from there.

almost 4 weeks of use and, so far, performance has been flawless.

Thanx for posting your set information. It's a good sign for me...mine is being delivered from the Reno Warehouse. Just out of curiousity, how far do you sit from your set?

I have had no HDMI problems(knock on wood).

I would think w/ the number of sets sold AND of those people who come to these forums AND are posting w/ problems - 1% may be right.

munnz - What types of devices are you using? The same devices seem to either be a problem, or problem free for everyone.

If I was only using my 360 (well, not HDMI, but over component) my DCT3614 STB, and my Samsung DVR-145, I could say I have no problems.
But I'm actually also using a 360 elite with HDMI, and DCT6200 and those devices generate problems. So it's all about what you're using, not what firmware rev you have.

I'm really impressed with the picture on the 5265F but I have a very bright room and I am concerned about the reflective screen on this set. Can anyone share their experiences with this set in a bright room. Is glare a problem with this set? I saw the review on CNET. The Samsung rep says it should not reflect like a plasma but this screen really looks like a mirror when turned off. This is my only major concern about this set. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

Looks like Amazon has it back. At least the 4065.

1024/1008 and no problems with the elite 360...looks like this might have fixed the issue people are having. knocks on wood...

Iwrote to amazon a couple days ago, and they could not give me the information. So, unless you can get better info., it is kind of a crap shoot.

Danny,

If you currently have a tube (CRT) tv, you will get no more glare than you get from that (except on a larger screen of course). I have a CRT and get glare, particularly from any lights behind my viewing area. If you have windows behind your viewing area, or lights that you must keep on, then it may be too much glare for you. Adjacent windows, for the most part, do not cause a problem, unles you sit at a 90 degree angle from that window to the set..i.e. your windows are on the left side of the tv, and you sit on the right side of the tv. Remember, light will reflect at the same angle that it hits the tv.

Frys ran out a few weeks ago, and just got new stock. They at least had a lower price than Amazon. I would suspect Frys has the latest available.
oh, and though I get glare, I simply turn off the lights behind the couch, and the glare from the adjacent window is minimal.

I see that...just a day ago it said 2-3 weeks. My Amazon unit was being shipped out from Cincinnati, Ohio. Anyone have experience with the units coming from that Amazon warehouse?

Here's my wall mount setup. I compressed the photos quite a bit, so hope they look OK. It's an Omnimount UCLX. Installation was a piece of cake, and it works really well. Rated for 200+ lbs so my 4661 is no prob. They charge a mint for these things retail but I found this one on e-bay for $200. I think it's well worth it. We have our set angled out toward the middle of our seating area which is about 12 feet away. Hope this helps. Here are the first three photos. 3 more in next post.

How do you know, on Amazon, where it is shipping from before you purchase the set?

Thanks

my 5265f order placed on 05/25 is being shipped from Cincy. I'm due to receive next week and will report my firmware versions and my personal satisfaction.

also about the glare topic, I have a ton of natural light and windows in my house thus I will report feedback on glare and will include photos for reference.

I don't think you can tell before purchase. I noticed details once I received my tracking info from Amzn*.

Can someone confirm for me that this mount will work with the 4061F?

Thanks.

Certainly looks like it would work. Looks like it is almost infinitely adjustable as far as bolt patterns go. Can you verify with a monoprice rep? if it cost 10 times that amount I would be really cautious, but at 27 bucks I personally wouldn't get too worried. Cheers!

Thanks, I trust Monoprice. They are a great company, good reputation. This mount has a lot of solid reviews on the site and I have read good things about in AVS.

And fyi the price of the 4061 on Amazon just dropped again today. Almost sub $1600. Crazzzy.

You should be aware that unless the source of any reflection is bright, your eyes will likely not focus on the reflection since it appears to be further away than the TV picture. Consequently, unless you focus your eyes on the reflection (in which case the TV picture will be out of focus), it will largely go unnoticed.

If you haven't purchased the set as yet, you should take a flat mirror and place it where you would like the TV screen to be. Sit in your "preferred" viewing location(s) and notice if there are light sources reflected from the mirror (you can safely ignore the unilluminated reflections) that you might find bothersome.

I have the 5265 and a halogen reading light over my head was a real pain; its reflection was in the top portion of the TV picture. All I had to do was to raise the lamp a couple inches and the problem was gone!

Very nice. I will be looking for a similar mount. How far out does that extend? I assume it will fit the larger set as well (52"). Although it will easily handle the weight (the wall mount), I worry about the wall being able to handle the weight since it extends from the wall. Did you fix the mount to studs or just the drywall itself?

idk if anyone has asked this, but is there a usb port; if so, can you put a thumb drive in and play videos or mp3s?
