Samsung LCD TV Red issues

Thread Starter
Hi All,

My LCD TV just started having a problem where blacks become red.

Model details are SAMSUNG 32 INCH 81CM LCD TV LA32S71BX

I have reset all color settings but still no result. I have some examples of the problem below. As you can see when there is no signal the screen should be black however it is red.

Does anyone know what can be done to fix this issue as I purchased this on ebay and they do have a warranty however I must pay for shipping in both directions.

Is there some factory reset to see if this fixes the problem?

my tv (samsung LNS3251D) has the same problem since a few days ago. anyone has a clue how it can be fixed? it's out of the warranty for nearly a year. i'm wondering how much it would cost me.

wow that is pretty wierd, have you tried different cables

it's like that on all sources, even without a signal.

I just purchased a t260hd and am having the same problem. Is there a firmware update? Or is it a bad unit.

UPDATE. Spoke with a Samsung rep and they informed me that the LCD is defective . Good news is that if it is under waranty they will ship you one, well they are shipping it to the UPS store where I will have to do a trade .

I have this same problem. Has anyone found a solution without having to change out the entire LCD Screen? This seems to be a common problem with Samsungs, and for those who are out of warranty, this is a ridiculous shame.

My TV is the LN-T4069F and this happened right out of warranty and I got the TV at Circuit City, just to make things worse.

I have the rear cover off the TV and if ANYONE knows which part needs to be replaced, i'd love to know. Thanks!

Hey All with this problem. I took a chance and bought the guts to the TV on ebay. $150 for everything, and i swapped out the parts. Problem solved, no more red screen!

PM me if you want details.

My Daytek 402 has the same problem. Running a fan behind us gives us anywhere from an hour to four hours before the black becomes red. The internals are all Samsung. I opened up the back and it even says Samsung inside. The Costco warranty ran out a couple of months ago. So it looks like it is either repair or replace. My guess is it is the power-supply, mainly because 80% of the time when I see a laptop or computer problem that a fan helps it is a power supply problem. So that is what I will try replacing first if I can find a place to order a replacement. Once I get it working again, I'll probably cut some holes in the case to install a fan, as passive air cooling always seems to reduce the life expectancy of electronics.

Here's one source: discount-merchant.com then in the search field, type power supply board
with the name brand of your tv. you will get a list.
And hubby, as far as cutting holes and installing fans. good idea except you need a push-pull setup. One fan to suck in outside case air, one fan to blow out warmer air from within. Slim-line fans used in laptop cooling pads have a nice profile for that. XS Cargo has two pad types; one is $4.99 and one is $9.99. The cheaper ones run out quickly. The difference between the two is the size of the pad and the fancy packaging. Both pads port two fans. You could opt to buy two pads and get 4 fans.... for the price.

My Samsung LN32A550P3F is just about 2 years old (and paid $700 for) and began suffering from the 'RED' shadow problem just after a year. It has gotten progressively worse and is now constant. Had a 'live chat' with a Samsung techie who indicated that I needed a new LCD panel and to take it to an 'authorized' service tech.
Also asked one of those online 'Professional' help sites and he also said I needed a new LCD panel. By the time I would buy the BN07-00574A panel, pay for shipping to get it, send the old one back for credit & pay shipping on it I would be out about $300. It'll be about the same cost to buy a new 32" TV from a different manufacturer.
This appears to be a common problem and I am outraged that a 'new' TV would last not even 2 years! Where can I go to be heard?
Other than buying 'guts' on Ebay (a 'hit or miss' proposition at best) has anyone come up with a 'repair'? Don't really want to buy new or spend $300 to fix. TV is perfect (except for 'RED' screen).

My Samsung LN40D630 purchased 8/12 just did the exact same thing today.  Paid $700 for it at Best Buy.  Warranty is up.  So, I want to replace the TV.  Any suggestions as to what type of TV to buy that won't have this same problem?  It would really stink to purchase another TV and have this same problem.  Help?
