Need some help on which Outlaw to choose: LFM-1 Plus or EX?
I have the worst kind of space for a sub. 17x17x10 living room that opens with wide openings (double door width)--into a dining room on one side and a little atrium on the other that has open stairs to the 2nd floor--that doubles the cubic space. In the living room, there are windows all along one wall, and a fairly large window in the middle of the last. My HT setup (Denon receiver, B&W speakers, PS3, HTPC, and Denon DVD) is along one wall in front of one window, and the listening position is on the other side of the living room in front of one of the large openings. Wood floors over a basement.
So I'm not planning to try to pressurize the space--it would be very expensive, not to mention that this 100 year old house with plaster walls would get even more cracks
I currently have a Mirage Prestige S10. Listening is 60% HT/30% music/10% gaming, although I would value SQ in HT over deeper bass. The Mirage S10 has been nice, but I want some more output (doesn't have to be a lot) and some deeper extension.
My two options are start with the LFM-1 Plus now, and then get another later when they go on sale. Then I can have the second sub near field for the listening position to smooth the bass null that is there.
My second option is to go ahead with the LFM-1 EX and hope that's enough; I'd rather not spend the money to buy two (although maybe I could get the EX and then buy a Compact for use for near field listening or a mid bass module). How would people compare overall volume output between two Plus's vs 1 EX? If the output is close, I think I'll go with the EX.
Thanks for any help. After a lot of research, I've decided on an Outlaw, unless the HSU VTF-3 MK3 miraculously goes on some kind of cheap close out near the price of the LFM-1 Plus. And partially my choice was helped by the good community feeling in this owner's forum
