Looking to pick up the Outlaw LFM-1 Plus in the near future. Saw the B-Stock is all sold out. Do they frequently replenish stock on these?

"B" stock on certain items happen when they happen. Keep this link for future reference or get their e-mail ads by signing up. Here's the "B" stock link:

Fellow LFM-1 EX owners, I require your assistance.

I built a riser/isolation pad for a sub I had on order, but which took forever to arrive. Anyway, before I waste more time, and even more money, I was wondering if my fellow subwoofer brother could do me a gigantic (huge) favor.

Before I start, I dont expect anyone to actually do this. However, if anyone has their subwoofer upside down, or would be so kind as to flip it over...can anyone please measure the exact distance from spike to spike (at the furthest point)?

Thanks sooooooooooooooo much!

w/o me even flipping it I"ll tell you I have mine sitting on an Auralex Gramma and it barely fits. Look at the dimensions of that and it'll give you an idea of how big of a pad you'd need to make.

If I'm being "generous" I'd say maybe a 1/2" on each side. Here you can see my EX sitting on a gramma to give you an idea.

thanks Nosferatu, i guess i'll order a Gramma. Money wasted on this riser. **** you eD!

...what's the difference between the LFM-1 Plus and the LFM-1 EX? It's not clear to me, and this is despite reading their product pages at the Outlaw site. What's the "special EQ" they include with the Plus? If they use the same driver and amp, then why does the EX have a lower extension and higher max (or average?) SPL? Are the differences all because of the EX' larger enclosure?

Yup, the larger enclosure does it.

Btw, if anyone was interested, the customer must pay return shipping on B-stock items since shipping is free.

You can compare specs here. For the Plus:

For the EX:

I imagine that is marketing rhetoric they wrote signalling how the LFM-1 Plus was better than the original LFM-1. There is a switch on the back of the EX (I'm guessing it's on the back of the Plus, also?) that you use to electronically adjust the EQ to match whether or not one port is plugged for maximum extension vs maximum output mode.

I was about to order the Rythmik FV12 until I saw the Outlaw LFM-1 Plus B stock... Does anyone think the Rythmik is worth $110 more with the shipping? I have been reading really good things about Rythmik, but I also have concerns because I have a baby that will be walking soon and it kind if scares me to have a front facing speaker with little destructive hands roaming around looking to destroy things

Is there any significant evidence to support that the FV12 would be better if you were paying full price for the Plus? The FV12 is priced to compete with the Plus. When I researched the FV12 a couple of weeks ago, there was almost no testimonial from people who had them. I asked in the Rythmik thread and couldn't get an answer about it. Someone else came along and said they couldn't find out much either. Doesn't seem like anyone has one who is a regular contributor to that owners thread.

So ask yourself if you are going to go with the sub that is the unknown, or the one that many people own and have recommended on these forums? Then the $110 price difference should make the decision easy.

And yes. Your sub will better survive a 1-4 year old if it is downfiring

I'm sure it's a cliche on AVS to say this, but this will be you:

Update: Ooopsss...I should have mentioned that the EX will be about twice that size in depth

Seriously, you will be blown away! I can't believe how much I've been missing all these years without a sub. Not just for movies either. I was playing Gears of War 3 last night and I was shocked at how much more immersive the game soundtrack was with the added LFE component!

I have a 16-month-old at home and am loving the LFM-1 Plus! My old sub was front-firing (Mirage Omni S8), and my son was constantly taking the grill off, turning the knobs behind it, and generally messing about with it.... The LFM-1 is like a rock - safe from destructive hands! He doesn't even pay it any mind - there's really nothing he can do to it. I definitely recommend it - it's real nice to not have to worry about it.

Sounds great, too - I watched Tron the other night at the suggestion of several from this forum and was blown away. Really cool - adds a whole new dimension to movie watching! The movie itself was so-so (what's with that ending?), but the bass more than made up for it!

This weekend we're babysitting our niece & nephew at ages 4 & 7, I'm thinking about renting How to Train your Dragon as that one is at the top of a lot of people's subwoofer must watch list, too..... Looking forward to that!

Good luck with your decision! My vote is to go with the LFM-1 Plus and forget about the Rythmik! Not only is there a grill to remove and a speaker behind it to tap/hit/claw/smear milk/jelly/other sticky substances on, but that giant port in the front is just begging for your kid to put whatever he can in there... Matchbox cars, blocks, bottles, car keys, etc..... Save yourself the aggravation!

I'm buying 2 LFM-1 Pluses in spring and I'm currently building my own risers. The subs dimensions were 15" X 22" so I made the riser platform 17" X 24" so there will be 1" all the way around of extra platform. My 2 risers for my subs and the 2 for my front towers will only cost me less than $40 for all 4 so that under $10 each.

Interesting question.
If the Outlaw Plus was not B stock pricing would you even be considering it ?
If that answer is no then maybe the Rythmik FV12 is still worth the price premium.

my room is 3300 cu ft and kinda opens to other rooms
will 1 EX do the trick or do i need to go bigger like the HSU VTF 15?

Since you previously had a sub from Ed, we can't tell you how these choices will compare.

Are you concerned about having enough headroom? The VTF 15 will give you more (headroom).

Even so the EX is bang for the buck champ:

Yes, I would have still considered the Outlaw. Originally I had my mind set on the HSU VTF2 mk3, but upon reading more and more I started leaning more to the Rythmik. I know the Outlaw and the HSU are basically the same, but I do like that the Outlaw is ported underneath instead of the rear like the HSU, plus the specs on the Outlaw are a little better than the HSU.

You've asked this question before. In this other thread, many people gave good responses. It will be impossible for you get better answers than what you got in that thread without you being much more specific and detailed with your expectations than you have been. And much more detailed about what you mean by "kinda opens" and what kinda rooms (size). Consider the instructions in the sticky post for the forum (items #1-7), and you might get the kind of advice you are seeking.

I really wish Fedex would deliver packages here earlier. I invited my sisters family over for movie night and the damn sub is still not here!! We're watching Thor and X-men first class.

Make sure they bring a change of underwear for the final dragon battle. Just sayin'.

1. Your budget. up to $1000 for 1 sub or 2 subs

2. Size requirements/limits. no limits

3. Room dimensions. 17x20x9' ceiling open to dining room, semi open to kitchen and living room

4. Primary uses. 100% HT

5. Listening habits I like to feel the explosions but will not be listening at reference levels

6. Appearance requirements. none

7. Timeframe. right now but i can wait 1 month

If you aren't looking for reference levels, then definitely get the EX and see if it works for you. As I mentioned before, it's very good in my living room which opens into a dining room and entry way of about 6,000 cubic feet total. If one is not quite enough for you, and you can add a 2nd in near field listening placement, that should surely do it then. In fact, that's the advantage over the VTF-15. The two vs one advantage.
