The way y'all are all whining maybe its better they subs were not on sale... the tech support required to try to make you happy after the sale just wouldn't be worth it to Outlaw or this forum.

I don't think people were that mad or overly concerned about the servers. Just several of us were disappointed that there were no subs on sale. For all the effort and work the Outlaws put into the marketing campaign, I don't think it's unreasonable for us to hope for the same price that they advertised during their "sub" sale in June or 24 hour sale in October.

I don't think that we were looking for prices that would set the world on fire, just the previous sale prices on a few subs.

Either way they should fire their sales manager for such a lamebrain attempt at a "sale"

I agree with you; and I did.

Mine wasn't ... she was really hoping I would pick up either the LFM Plus or EX last night; I had been waiting for this sale anxiously for over a week and been waiting to pick up a decent Sub for my new HT setup for a while now. I figured I'd wait till Black Friday and hopefully score a deal.

Not only was I not able to access your site when the sale went live but I had to find out through numerous forums that you weren't including any of your subs in the private sale and that was a big disappointment to many people. I was really looking forward to purchasing your subs and hope you reconsider making some of your subs available to us in the private sale.

Couldn't agree with you more; this wasn't childish whining & whimpering, I think this was a major & serious business flaw that Outlaw executed last night. They would have sold a ton of Subs last evening if they had thought this out properly. Nobody was looking for world-on-fire prices ... I think everybody was looking for a bone.

The site down part I can understand -- I don't honesly think they anticipated the response they got. I work in the Web Server field myself and unexpected things happen! But the fact that they got more traffic then they expected (or could handle) is severe tastament that their "Sale" was an Epic Fail! Almost nobody I know was looking for anything but a Sub ... no one I know was looking for anything that was on the Sale list. It's like advertising a Big Super Secret Door sale at your local BMW dealership and handing out Windshield Wipers & Air Freshners for your car for people holding a "Special" Reservation Ticket and standing outside in the line for hours!! It doesn't make sense ... and will garner nothing but annoyance & discredit. It's natural. It's part & process of human expectancy. You really can't call this whimpering.

Polk Direct's eBay store had been advertising in big bold font face on their website for the last week "Black Friday Deals Begin November 24th". They gave small discounts like $75 ~ $35 & free shipping on most of their flagship speakers ... it was slightly dissapointing but it does not compare to Outlaw. You know why? Because (a) they did not send me Super Secret Door Registration Keys & Invites -- raising my expectation levels to extremely high!! (b) despite the fact that the discounts were not as big as I may have liked, at least they did discount their main products that most people, including myself, would have been interested in.

This was just a flawed decision/effort at Outlaw's part. This won't stop me from buying their products or hating them or anything; that would be childish. But I sure as heck am going to crib about it. It sucks!!

Wow you guys are like little whiney girls. Hey guess what? The subs ARE on sale for the same exact sale they had last year for Black Friday AND they just had a sale last month AND they have sales multiple times a year AND their sales are better than any other ID company that offer comparable subs. If you dont like the bundle you can wait for one like they had last month, buy now and sell the wireless kit or keep your eye on the B-stock page and get it at the same price that last months sale was.

Srsly this thread is just getting out of hand with the complaining. I agree the secret sale was underwhelming. It reminded me of A Christmas Story when Ralphie decoded the "be sure to drink your Ovaltine" thing, but there are still options to get a great sub at a great price.

So what are the main differences between the LFM Plus vs EX? Was looking at getting the EX on sale but I may have to settle for the Plus. Any major differences other than the minor spec differences? Thanks

Im in the same boat. I was wondering if I am sacrificing that much if I go with the Plus Combo, instead of the EX that I was hoping for.

I agree. It was a promotional disaster for them. Had any of the LFM-1 subs been on sale--even the Compact--people might have been disappointed, but not so much outright disgusted with the whole big to do made out of nothing. People walked away so miffed that they missed that the wireless combo and free shipping is a fairly good deal. Obviously, Outlaw is completely out of touch with the marketing benefits they derive from the AVS community and the interest in their subs, or they would have thrown that "bone."

As to the website, well, this is 2011. Time for any small retailer with an online presence to get a good VPN or cloud service that can handle the extra load, and where they could pay for extra performance for Nov/Dec; I bet they are using some cheap commercial shared hosting account.

Feel the same here, has anyone gotten an email respond from Outlaw yet?
I got an email from Outlaw . . . Although I didn't write in to complain, they sent out a general one addressing the server issues. They've also extended the sale until Nov. 27.

Also mentioned how they received complaints about no sub being on sale. Their response: There is . . . for the regular Black Friday promotion.

They just added a mass response in the "Special Outlaw Private Sale Update" email saying that the sub and wireless combo with free shipping is available. I wouldn't be surprised if no one gets the customer service attention of getting an individual response.

Update: Too slow on the reply (lol)

I figured that would be somewhat of the response we would get. I am probably going to get the combo, however I would have preferred not to if I didn't have to.

Hi duyduck, just receiver their email . I'm not in any hurry and don't need the OAW3 ... so will wait for their next sub sale.

This is the bottom part of the email:

Quote:

Despite the addition of enhanced server capacity, it is possible that the high site traffic may periodically cause delays during peak periods. To help with that we have taken the following steps to ensure you are able to access the site and open the SECRET DOOR to our promotional prices:
We have extended the promotional period until Sunday, November 27th at 1:00PM EST.
We have created a special email address, specialsupport@outlawaudio.com for you to report any difficulties accessing our site. We will honor the special pricing for any authorized customers who report issues to this email address DURING the promotional period. Please be sure to include your User ID and pass key in your report.
Finally, we have received a few emails regarding the lack of subwoofers in our private sale. While our LFM series subwoofers were not behind the SECRET DOOR they ARE available at discounted prices in our annual Black Friday/Cyber Promo. For example, the LFM-1 EX subwoofer which normally sells for $649 plus shipping ($89.85) is currently available in combination with the OAW3 wireless Audio System, a total value of $887 for only $648 with FREE Ground Shipping included. That saves you $238! This special offer and more may be accessed through the Black Friday/Cyber Monday Offer link at the top of the Outlaw home page.

Best regards,

The Outlaws

Any number of Department stores have Secret Discount sales every other week. You don't know what your discount is going to be until you buy the item. They don't let you see how much (5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 30%), before you buy the item, otherwise, since most people get 5%, they wouldn't buy the item.

Also, Outlaw knows there is demand for the EX for $550 delivered, but that cuts into their profit margin, and they are prepared to sell the EX for that price only several times per year. If they wanted to sell tons of them for $550 delivered, they could certainly do that. If you want to get the sale you are looking for you just have to wait till it comes around again.

No matter how many AVS members (and others), "boycott" Outlaw over the EX, Outlaw will still sell as many as they want to at $550 delivered.

There will still be enough people looking for the sale and buying the EX. Outlaw has had far more serious problems with their Pre/Pros and just muddles along. If you really want the EX and really want the $550 delivered price, you wait till the next such sale.

It's not a life or death issue, like needing an organ transplant, and being on a waiting list.
I think it's a bit hilarious that you all are now spitting on Outlaw. Because just a few days ago you all were chastising HSU for not providing bigger discounts or marketing themselves like Outlaw.

By the way, Outlaw is having a sale on a non-combo Sub, it's just not the one you want. I picked up the M8 for $107 off.

I will buy from them again if and when they have something I want or need I love the LFM-1 EX.

I like the EX too. I wonder how 2 of the Klipsch RW-12D @ $300 from NewEgg would compare to a single EX for $550?

I would disagree. What's clear to me is that Outlaw has not learned how to capitalize on the social media grassroots marketing that is happening for them through AVS (and possibly other sites). As an ID sub vendor, they benefit greatly from "word of mouth" type recommendations such as what they receive here. In this instance, the private sales event promotion built up a lot of energy which got released as increased negativity toward their brand. It could very well affect their market share in the future. And they obviously need a better strategy for marketing their Outlaw made products; otherwise, they would not need to be selling Atlantic Tech speakers in this private sale.

While I don't have any experience with either products, from what I have read, I think the Outlaw is better with music and digs down deeper. Two Kilpsch will give you more output than a single LFM-1. The RW-12D is great with movies but average for music.

Went ahead and got the EX combo. I can use the wireless adapter for my patio, but just wasn't planning on buying that at this time.

Regardless, I wanted to make sure I was saving on the shipping costs, since that is a killer for these ID subs.

I know people say just to wait, but I've waited since July and barely missed the 24 hour sale, not sure if I want to wait until 6 more months for a real sub sale.
I was thinking about going for the OAW3 combo. Maybe sell the OAW3 but I dont know who would want to buy it

i thing i am going to pick up another EX

I would buy it for $75 shipped. It would cost you probably less than $5 to ship it so in the end you would end up only paying about $30 more than you would have for the sale last month. Pretty awesome deal IMO, win win!

If anyone wants the wireless kit for $75 PM me.
if theres folks here willing to buy an OAW3 at that price Id buy the EX!
I tried to warn you guys the sale price was probably going to be more in line with last years Black Friday sale rather than their 550 free shipping EX sale. I don't think they make a lot of money on the latter sales, although it looks like they do a lot of business. I can understand the disappointment, but they never promised a specific sale price, so I think slamming them is out of line. Their Black Friday deal is still very good considering free shipping is over $100 saved right there, and you can sell the wireless adapter for $50 on ebay at the very least if you don't intend to use it.
called my girlfriend and told her to give me 2 reasons not to buy an LFM....she failed. Who wants an OAW!

Now $50 sounds like an even better deal! Tell you guys what, I am in the market to buy 2 wireless kits at $50 each shipped if you guys are serious about placing orders! First 2 PMs get the sale.
If any of you guys want to get rid of a wireless kit for $75.00 shoot me a PM, I am looking at a different sub and need one.

Deciding to sell Marantz and Atlantic Tech was a business decision, and so was restricting the private sale to those brands. Promontional events frequently focus on items that aren't selling or that are new to their line-up.

Seems to me that people are ready to buy the EX @$550 ASAP. The sale can't come soon enough.

If Outlaw has a problem selling as many EX's at $550, (as they want to), they can run the sales for longer, (not like the last 24 hour sale).

Now that Audioholics has tested the EX, even more people will jump on it at $550 as soon as they get the chance.
