LoL, the poor Fedex guy. I'm cursing mine today. I spent alllll day waiting for my new HSU VTF-1, and they ended up calling it day right before they were set to deliver my sub. Something about going over their hours or some such nonesense. I am totally pissed that I have to again rush home again from work Monday to hurry up and wait for a delivery that could come at any time (If at all).

I'm writing a letter to Fedex if I don't get my already 4 x delayed sub on Monday. I used to hate UPS, now Fed ex is my on the top of my Shiz list.

My heart was broken today. My girlfriend told me the EX wasnt worth it because it doesnt sound better....im single now ^_^. Haha jk...about the last part

Edit: Finally decided to change audyssey's setting for Dynamic volume to off instead of evening and wow, what a difference! Now she claims theres the difference haha. I guess its hard to impress her after we went to the Hsu demo room last week

LoL. I can't wait to move back to San Diego this summer. I'm definitely running by HSU to check out their other products, especially the horn speakers. No ship, but geez the taxes will kill ya'.

Must say the wife and I watched Super 8 last night which the Outlaw LFM-1 EX handled amazingly especially the train wreck scene.

How durable is the pixiglass on top of the LFM-1 EX have yet to pull off brown paper yet.Was thinking of getting a piece of glass cut to put over the top to protect it.
Do you plan on having it near items that can drop on it?

On a side nte it took me quite sometime to remove that brown paper
post #4333 of 6802
It not going to break, but plexiglass is plexiglass and it will scratch easily.

+1

You'll have to have a sheet of glass cut with polished edges to use on top to protect that plexiglass.
Have a friend who owns a glass company will get him to cut me a piece of thin tempered glass and polish the edges then add some really thin silicon wafers to separate the two. That should work fine then sometime next year pick up another LFM-1 EX and use them as end tables.

The thing gets dirty quickly

Been watching a few movies (not as much as id like) with the lfm ex. Ill post up a detailed report of my likings and dislikes about the sub asap. Got pictures of me unboxing it in front of fedex too

Not if you don't put anything on it! When I had my twin EX subs flanking my couch I put a place mat on each and used them for endtables, no scratches.

Curious to know what Sub(s) replaced the LMF-1 EX's and how they compare in your honest opinion ??

I'm still running my EX subs. I moved them to the front now, and have a pair of mid bass subs alongside the couch. Honestly, I haven't found another sub at a reasonable price that will significantly outperform my present setup. 4 subs and an SMS-1 are a great combination, I'd be looking at Submersives or Captivators for an upgrade, but the cost isn't worth it to me (yet!).

I wonder if a JTR cap could outdo 2 EXs and the sms

Went to the fedex store last night to pick my new EX up. I just went down there in my daily 92 chrysler new yorker.....and had a hell of a time getting the sub to fit in the car. It ended up hanging about halfway out of the trunk on the ride home. I guess I should have read the dimensions ahead of time or something. LOL

I'm sure a single Captivator will reach deeper and output more than twin EX subs, as it should for over twice the price. The SMS-1 is sweet, it really helps you get the most out of any subwoofer. Twin Powered Captivators would be awesome, but I'm not ready to drop $5400 on subs at this point!

Just purchased my 2nd Plus, 2 years after my original one. I had bought an SMS-1 EQ with the first. I tried the SMS in 2 different rooms (a different SW in the 2nd room) without a lot of success, so I put it in mothballs.

I've long known that a 2nd SW in a room will help smooth things out. Last week, I found a post in AVS that said you are supposed to set up the SMS after you run Audyssey. Seemed to make sense.

I've moved since my original purchase, so now I am setting up my system in a much larger room than existed in my previous place, with > 5000 cubic feet to work with. I started with setting all channels to 75db in the main seating position. A sub crawl did not reveal much in the way of sensitivity to positioning, not that I had a lot of leeway aesthetically. I then ran Audyssey for 6 positions, followed by tuning using the SMS. Now my frequency response below 100 Hz is as flat as Kate Hudson. I couldn't be more pleased.

LFM-1 Plus should be delivered to me today......
What an amazing sub! Absolutely awesome for both music and movies.

I did previously have an SVS CS-Ultra with a Samson S1000 pro amp driving it and I can definitely say that for movies the SVS is the clear winner. For the price of the Outlaw, though, quite an amazing sub. Has much more of a kick in the chest feel than the SVS ever had for music.

My wife wasn't too happy about the size of it. Little does she know that as soon as she gets used to it I'd like to buy a second one.

I'm running it in max extension mode with one port blocked. Seems to work well for both music and movies. I originally had it set in max output mode with both ports open but it just seemed to be slightly lacking for movies.
