I called my bank as they had mentioned I had a protection cap of $500... "OH SNAP", my bad, I forgot I had that. Oh well, I guess it was ment to be. I cant say forsure until I talked to them tomarrow but I can only assume I'm on the back burner now

Since I have the "upgrade bug" to wait another moth might be hard... I will have to more than likley look into SVS or HSU maybe... who knows?

ITs been fun chatting with a few of you guys... have fun with your new EX

Update:
I talked with Jennifer at Outlaw today to explain what happened as it was an "error" uopn my part. She had thought it was something as simple as that as she/they had the order "on hold" in such case. Well long story short.... I have comfermation and a tracking number as I should receive the unit next week. So in essance she/they made me even a bigger fan of Outlaw with the serivce as I even admitted to her it was my mistake.

I don't try to push speakers hard when I first get them, but I don't baby them either. Audio engineering science indicates that the important mechanical elements effecting movement of a speakers set first time its turned on immediately, sort of like pistons setting on an engine, only a lot faster.

Well to be honest I forgot I even had it as I switched to this new bank about 5 months ago as thats where I have my business account, they automatically put it on thier unless I elect to choose not too, thus protecting the account.

THought I would briefly explain since you asked "why":

About a little over a year and a half ago I/we had someone using my business partners number, I'm not sure how they obtained it but they did. Anyhow they had bought a bunch of items out east as they charged over $2k to our account within 2 days before our accountant caught the transaction's. It about a month from our old bank to recoupe the money with all the paper work and such... so in essence I'm glad its on thier.

Ok.... back to "normal" life as it be

To find the best spot you are going to need to do the sub crawl. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AV3oLLMgS-M

The 609 only has 2EQ so turn the gain (volume) on the back of the sub at around the 9'oclock position and run Auddyssey. If you have an SPL meter then match the volume of the sub on the receiver with your other speakers. If you dont have an SPL meter then you should get one. Auddyssey on the 609 will set the volume on the sub waaaayyyy too low so if no SPL meter then you will have to do it by ear, but in my room I have to turn the volume on the sub from the receiver about +10db from where my other speakers are, your room may be different.

How do you EQ 2 subs with the 709? Just curious as I have a 609, but am thinking of getting a 709 for MultEQ XT, but I was under the impression that only MultEQ XT32 EQs more than one sub?

It will eq the subs as a whole (thinks 2 subs as one).

there's a blu-ray demo disc floating around on AVS in torrent format (it's about 45GB). Has awesome demo content for subs and a slew of test tones. I threw the 20Hz and 15Hz tone at this thing and the silent earthquake effects are just epic on an EX!!!

Unlike headphones and engines, speakers settle in very quickly. I just plugged it in, played for 5 min, ran the tuning software (Audyssey) and just went to town. Almost a year later and it still runs strong!!

Hi all, my EX is home, unpacked, undamaged, hooked up wirelessly with OAW3,and sitting pretty in a rear corner next to couch. I put it on an Auralex Gramma and the extra three inches height makes it the perfect end table. And the beige protective paper on the plexiglass top, which is left on for now, blends well with the room, I think it will pass WAF test. I had the first Transformers BD playing for testing with the room dark, so she did not see it tucked in the corner when she came in. She did, however, comment a few times about how good it sounds. There were lows present never before heard by us during that movie. I agreed with her, "yes, it does sound good, but it needs more mid-bass." So, when I get time to tweak it, I will, and the seed is planted to add Hsu MBM-12, just in case I can't dial in the mid-range the way it should be with the small Orb speakers. Room placement is very limited to integrate another black box, and I'm not going to press my my luck just yet with an MBM. Better stick with tweaking the Outlaw mid-range for a while.:-))

You have a Pioneer receiver, right? I don't think MCAAC provides any subwoofer EQ. Room acoustics could be affecting the mid-bass. Josh Ricci's tests show that the EX does very well up to that 150hz range, so the output capability is there. If room acoustics are the issue, an EQ could improve that substantially without having to buy an MBM; all you need is room in your rack for it. The Velododyne SMS that people seem to like is cheaper than the HSU MBM. You might start with an SPL meter and test your room and see if the mid-bass is way down.

Alternatively, Audyssey MultiEQ (but not 2EQ) does add EQ filters for the sub. I can tell the difference with my EX output between running my system in direct mode vs MutiEQ on. You could try a Denon, Onkyo, or Marantz receiver. Watch for a special at BestBuy or somewhere like that, pick one up and try it (you can always return it). Then you get the additional benefits of having a more powerful receiver.

Just an FYI, a guy on the Hsu forums just put up his MBM for sale, pretty decent price. Might be worth giving him a call.

Would you happen to know the link for that download demo cd? I think it was Scuba Steves 2.0, right? I could not find the link.

Hey, there are LFM-1 Plus B-Stock for $489.00 shipped.
cel4145, thanks for this info, I have room for the EQ and would consider that before the MBM. But with sub in rear of room, could there be too much localized mid-range coming from behind?

By the way, re: LFM-1 EX WAF: Passed for me, no repercussions whatsoever.
Sorry. I don't answer to that one, but I'm glad you aren't having to sleep with your new sub
post #4879 of 6798
Yes, the Pioneer MCAAC receiver I'm using with the EX does not seem to do much with bass during auto-setup. I do have a Denon which I believe has the MultiEQ in my Rec Room and the Bass there is very good. I always thought it was because the speakers were bigger and the room was smaller, not so much the Audyssey itself. But I do not feel like switching receivers at this point.

Now I have to decide if I should just start with that 50 Hz FMOD, the Velodyne or similar, or wait for an opportune time to sneak in an MBM. Think I'll look for an SPL meter first and see if I can manually tweak the mid-range. Thanks all for your input thus far.

If you have a sub there, definitely. MultiEQ has filters specifically for the subwoofer (see the table at the bottom of the page).

By the way, congrats on your new Outlaw sub.

It would be great to get a thorough review comparing the two from someone who has both.

My new Ex arrived late Friday and I spent yesterday doing the sub crawl
and re running MCACC on my pioneer elite. All I got to say is WOW .
This is the first Big Sub Ive had its replacing a STF 2 from HSU and a Klipsch 12
neither were bad subs but the EX is in a different league.
The others were loud and boisterous but just lacked something. The New EX
is Loud and REFINED . Bass is low and tight just sounds better !!!
I'm sure I'll be adding a second Outlaw when time and money are available.
Right now I'm off to watch ( Listen ) to Tron Legacy . I'm already grinning from ear to ear .

PS - Since everyone wants PICs so I posted a few to show how it blends into my Home Theater Scheme.

Caved and bought two EX's today. Shame i waited so long because i will have to wait about a month before they ship.

Anyway, i will be placing my LFM-1 Plus for sale once they come if anyone is interested.
As soon as I saw the sale, I knew (deep down) I would be buying one. Instead of jumping fast and getting it this week, I waited unil today and will continue to wait a month for delivery

I bought the Plus at the last sale, would have waited if I would have known the EX was going on sale, now. Really hoping they aren't too far apart to set up proper duals. For some reason, I believe another EX will be purchased later in the future...hopefully, I can just forget they are different.

My room is a square acoustic nighmare with no hard corners (without moving everything in the room to a different wall). The Plus does fine, but leaves a bit to be desired; even ina 14.5x14.5x8 room (damn placement restrictions).

I'm thinking about putting each sub on the side walls just in fron of the front surrounds. Thoughts?

Right now, I have the Plus up front between the display and the front towwers speakers. I can put the EX behind my main chair to do a front/back, bt I can't put the EX up front. The Plus barely fits and the towers are spread as far as they can be without changing the entire orientation of the room.
The plus and ex will be fine in a dual set up.

Do you have pics of your room?

Good luck with the move and post some pictures when you get everything squared away and find a moment to relax.

LOL!! Yeah - Sorry about that man! Well, yours should be here today.

So I got mine Friday; wife & I fell in love with the size of the box alone - we haven't even opened the damned thing yet

So it's HUGE. Anyhow, we're all packed up & living out of boxes right now so it's stacked with the rest of my speakers. We're moving Thu & Fri and hopefully Sat or Sun I'll open the bad boy and start to set things up. Rest assured, I'll definitely take pictures - Opening Box & All. So I'll post those here.

Really impressed with Outlaw; even after the initial communication delay - I actually had the Sub delivered at least a week before I projected; thanks to their 'Overnight'.
