I just got my Auralex Gramma yesterday and have to say that anybody who doesn't own one should. Well spent $50 bucks. Improves sound quality immensely.

There seems to be a lot of mixed feelings on the Gramma. What kind of flooring did you have it on before getting the Gramma, wood, tile, carpet?

Carpet. I read all the mixed reviews. Spend the $50 and decide for yourself.

I will probably pick one up from my local guitar center as I have seen them there. I am moving at the end of the month and the new house will have hard wood floors so I can get a before and after feel for it.

Found mine on Amazon, $49 shipped. I would recommend to anybody on here. I even had to turn my gain down as a result. Definitely sounded like I was getting more output.

I tried. Don't understand the physics of it, could be that my Plus is just a little higher off the floor, but whatever it is, I'm convinced it sounds better. I've been pretty set on running it hot (had my gain at 5, and my AVR at +2.5), and after putting it on the Gramma I turned the gain down to just above 3.5 and the AVR to 0. Watched Inception last night and determined that I am going to have to do something with my vent covers and pictures on the wall because of the rattling that ensued.

I have a new Outlaw EX for sale. Only had it for a month but it didn't pass the WAF for our livingroom. PM if interested.

If my placement options are limited, what else can I do to increase the bass? I've tried running it hot on the avr (+3 to +5) but find that it is still missing lots. Should I try turning up the gain on the back of the sub? Anything wrong with that?

Thanks.

Hi Wazaloob, what are the speaker configuration size set to, Large (set them to Small)? Is bass setting set to LFE+Main (set it to LFE)? What are the crossover freq. set to, 40Hz or 60Hz (try 80Hz)? Is Dynamic Volume set to on (set it to off)?

Hi JChin,

The speakers are set to small and bass setting is just LFE. Crossover is at 80Hz already, and I've tried Dynamic volume to be off.

What exactly is it missing? What scenes are you using? You could cause your sub to bottom out easier by adjusting the gain on the sub after you ran audyssey

OK so I posted a while back about a second EX sub and I had planned to wait until I have more room (in an apartment now) but, I have the chance to purchase a used one now. Would two EX's in a ~1500 ft^3 (12x16x8) room be too much? The room is open to a hall way on one of the 12' walls and open to the kitchen one the adjacent 16' wall. Funds and space (for placement) aren't an issue but, I don't want to have a second sub just sitting around doing nothing if I find it's just too much sub. I like bass but, I don't want it to over power the higher frequencies.

On second thought...I have the extra speakers for a bedroom system and it would make a nice night stand...

You said previously you are looking for chest thumping bass. Just in case because we don't know your expectations: If you are expecting the EX to perform in your size room like a 12" sub will in a car, that's not going to happen. A car sub only has to pressurize as much space as a walk-in closet.

I have since came to realize that car subs are very different than HT subs.

Not really. If you put the EX in a walk-in closet and closed the door, I would imagine it would definitely out perform many 12" car subs

Anyone watch hockey? Does your sub make a loud boom when there's a big hit into the boards? :d

When the EX went on sale I have to say I was super stoked. Then they pushed back the ship date. Totally disappointed. As a result Outlaw offered me a Plus at sale price with free shipping. I took them up because I like instant gratification. Plus has now been set up for 8 weeks and I can't say how bad this guy is. I officially got the bug. An to top it all off I am adding an EX come Monday. Can't wait to see what the two guys do together. Anyone else here running a Plus and an EX? I'm planning on trying to put one of them near field, so we'll see what happens.

I'm gonna have to make one custom. Or just fly by the seat of my pants. Will report back come Tuesday. Unless my roof caves in on me.

I have a plywood subfloor over trusses and the vibrations through the floor where severe. Causing the walls to vibrate more and eating up a lot of the subs energy (or so it seemed). My house vibrates less causing a cleaner sound and there is greater output as well (I attribute this to getting it breathing room from the shag carpet + thick pad). Well worth the money in my mind, I'd purchase it again.
