I was lamenting the fact I could have saved some money if I had only waited when another member put it in perspective. He said, "Look at the bright side - you've been enjoying your TV three months longer had you waited."

I know it sounds crazy, but I don't really "need" a subwoofer now anyway. I'm in a duplex apartment and I don't want to bother the neighbors, plus I'm going on a honeymoon in a few weeks and just bought a new TV, receiver, 5.0 speakers, and power conditioner in early July.

So if there's a chance the price would be lower than it is now in the near future, I wouldn't mind just putting it off and enjoying my setup as is. Plus as I mentioned, I'm moving around February '13 so I don't know for sure what kind of room I will be in. Hopefully will have a dedicated theater room by then, even if it is just an extra bedroom or bonus room.

I'm pretty sure it was mentioned by one of the Outlaw folks that there is no way it will ever be $549 again.

Thanks, that's what I was wanting to know. That's too bad, but apparently this is a great value even at the $599 price. I can't blame a company that has earned a great reputation for wanting to increase their profit margins on sales such as these.

Oh well, it would have been great to pick up my first subwoofer at such an amazing price, but I will still be picking one of these up at $599 eventually. Whether it is now or down the road when I can feel more comfortable spending the money (it's not that I don't have it now, I've just spent so much building a setup from scratch that it's hard to keep justifying such large purchases one after another).

I also read that somewhere, can't find it anymore so I picked up the EX this week when I saw that price drop.

I don't think there will be a better price, and everyone says it's a now brainer, even compared a Hsu VTF3.

I went with the EX because I'm not sure aha my future room sizes will be, I'd like to upgrade and expand my system eventually and by the time I'f be able to afford another sub or a dedicated room, I think I'd be able to spring for another EX or something better.

Still, the Plus is supposed to get great too for anyone still debating!

Anyone know how long it takes Outlaw to ship an order? I ordered mine Tues morning and I have not received a shipping notice yet. I know they say up to 5 business days before and item ships, but I didn't think that an order on Tues would sit until the following week. I tried contacting them but they closed early on Friday. Maybe free shipping means slow processing??

Hi cjsiv and congrats, the Fed Ex tracking number should be on your Sales Invoice under "Description". I ordered on Friday 1/20 and was delivered Wednesday 1/25 (EX's was in stock at the time of order), Your order may take a bit longer due to the holiday.
Now they send you an email with a login and password to your invoice. There is nothing about shipping on the invoice other than cost. In the email they say that your item will ship out within 5 business days not counting holidays. Just seems odd that they charged my credit card right away yet will take 5 days to process. Was listed as in stock when I ordered. Reminds me of prior to paying for my amazon prime membership when free super saver shipping sat in processing for 3-5 days after I ordered.

I ordered mine a couple months ago during the last sale. I ordered on a Sunday or a Monday and they didn't ship till Friday . The kicker is they apparently have a facility here in Oregon, because the tracking showed, on Friday, that it was less than 20 miles away. I had to wait till Monday to get it, no pick up available. I remember I was alittle miffed they didn't ship it one day sooner to get it to me Friday.

They're extra busy during these sales so i wouldn't be surprised if your ship time lies near the end of the 5 day period too.

Yes I got that email "copy of your invoice" (orders@outlawaudio) as well when ordered. But also receiver the second email "sales invoice" (billing@outlawaudio) within 24 hrs that show the tracking number.

Quick question Outlaws. I purchased my second Outlaw, an EX to add to my Plus, about six months ago from someone on this forum. When he demoed the EX for me he had a demo disc with a bunch of scenes from different movies to show off output. My question is this, does anyone here have this disc? And if so would someone be willing to mail it to me? I know there are links on other forums here for demo discs but I do not have a DVD or Blu-Ray burner. PM me if so. I appreciate it in advance!

Have not received 2nd invoice. Guessing it is like previous poster stated. Waiting 5 days to ship.

I just had a fellow AVS'er over to demo my Plus and EX. Hopefully, he will be along shortly to add his impressions.

Let us know your initial thoughts and listening experience! This sale is on its last day and I'm trying to resist the urge to go ahead and pull the trigger now rather than wait for another few months and hope for another sale..

I bought my EX on 9/25/09. To this day I'm still floored how low and clear it plays.

Well, three of the four holes in the bottom that the spikes screw into are missing the metal threaded insert. Not the threaded rod, but the hole itself is just a wood hole. Nothing to screw into on the sub. The metal "sleeves" are MIA. Must have been assembled on a Friday, huh? Had to take off the amp to look inside an see if they fell out or are gone altogether. No sign inside so Outlaw is shipping me the inserts. Guess my "new" sub involves some DIY work. And when I pulled out the port plug, it ripped in half. So far, not off to the best start. My hands are still itching from digging around in the insulation.

Went ahead and picked up some nuts to secure the feet from the inside (metric of course) so I can use it while I'm waiting. I think I prefer both ports open. Sounds great compared to my STF-2. The sound is similar but has more punch. Haven't had a whole lot of time with it. Spent most if the morning dealing with the spike issue. I'll update after I get a chance to listen some more.

I had an issue with the plug in my EX, as well. It came apart. I super-glued it together and have had it in and out several times without issue. Outlaw offered to send a new one, but I tried my fix and it worked.

The metal sleeve issue is very sad. I expect more of any company I deem worthy of my money.

The plug coming out of the port? I just put a bunch of electric tape on mine and it sticks

I agree. In fact, my new neighbors was so floored, they told me turn down the bass. Apparently they don't like me rearranging their picture frames. haha good times

No, the plug is made of layers of glued together foam with a screw/handle on one end. My layers fell apart, is all. One layer stayed in the port, the other came out. I glued the layers back together and let it dry. After letting it dry, I haven't had an issue. Both of my port plugs fit great, if not a little tight. No electrical tape necessary, here.

Just got my EX today and was pretty excited to set it up.

I have a Pioneer VSX-1121 and ran the auto MCACC with the EX @ 3, which was suggested in another EX thread and the receiver had the sub at -0.5dB. However, the bass response was non existent when I tried playing some music. Then I played U571 and the depth charges were underwhelming. I could feel some bass and hear the rumbling but was not impressed. I'm not sure what I may be doing wrong.

I'm not sure if it's the placement: 1 food from back wall between the TV and left surround. Unfortunately I am pretty limited in the placement of the sub but am open to suggestions.

Room size: 2100cf with open walkway in the back of the room.

It's in bass extension mode, with 1 port plugged, phase at 0, crossover at 80Hz

I appreciate any help
First thing is just to check some configuration. Be sure that your speakers are set to "small" so that all bass below the crossover setting is transferred to the EX. Page 67 of the manual (I think I have the right manual).
That worked like a charm! Wow, simple fix, I feel awfully stupid. I didn't remember switching my speakers to large or that they were large after the MCACC. Thanks again!

It's always great when it's a simple fix. That's what I always hope for, that I missed something easy smile.gif

I recently changed over a small bedroom (1100 cubic feet space) to a dedicated gaming/streaming space with a mixture of speakers to get me a 7.1 system (front height vs. rear speakers). I decided to see what two LFM-1 PLUS subs could due in a small space and on a suspended floor vs. a concrete floor in my main theater room. I have a cheapy Onkyo AVR with two sub outputs running to a Behringer Feedback Destroyer Pro EQ...

I dialed everything in with the OmniMic software and was able to have a very nice "house curve" on the subs in Max Output mode. Each sub was calibrated to 75dB and combined they produced 78dB. In my main theater room (3000 cubic feet), these two subs were not enough for my listening habits and bass appetite. Well, they rock in my new space! cool.gif I am using the HT demo disc from scubasteve and on many of the LFE scenes I was getting 120dB! eek.gif These little guys have been bulletproof from day one and I am always pushing them very hard....great job Outlaw!

Here is some visual proof of how visceral the experience was in my space. After about 45 minutes of non-stop demos, I re-ran the Dark Knight & Inception clips at reference level +3dB and the subs never made a bad sound. All of this work and I forgot about my glass of wine...I went looking for it and couldn't find it...then I noticed broken glass by the door and look at what the subs did to my glass...tongue.gif

I remembered setting my stemless, red wine glass down on that very spot and it didn't move or fall off the sub.... it EXPLODED!!!!!eek.gif

Where I live, such a waste of wine is dealt with by a visit from the Wine Police (unless it's zin, in which case they'll look the other way.)

I hope you mean "unless it is WHITE ZIN"!

Wow!!! Talk about pressurization!

Do you have another wine glass like that? Sounds like a great youtube video! C'mon, do it for all bass-head-kind!
