Hey - I have the Olevia 537H tv (1366x768) and am considering the Denon 557 upscaling dvd player. I have the following questions though about upscaling and 1:1 TV mode.
1. With my current DVD player (sony non-upconverting, component-only), at the 1:1 setting on the TV, I get a very sharp but small picture in the middle of the TV screen (I assume it's resolution is 720x480). With the Denon 557 + HDMI + 1080i upconverting, will the picture at 1:1 setting be bigger and sharper?
2. If I choose 720p, the output image is at 1280x720 - does this mean the picture will have black bars all around the picture at 1:1 tv mode?
2. So what does happen if I choose 1080i (1920x1080) - is the TV's scaler going to downscale the picture? If yes, the picture is going from 720x480 (480i) -> 1920x1080 (1080i) -> 1366x768 (TV's native pixel resolution). All this up and down scaling cant be good, right?
