Well it's been about 3 months since the last PS3/Blu-Ray poll so lets see how many people have bought BD movies for thier "Gaming machine"
When the two Pirates movies come in this week I will own 5 blu-ray movies, plus I am on the 4 movie plan with Blockbuster Total Access.

I own 2 disc based PS3 games (RFoM and Motorstorm), I also bought Tekken 5 DR, Flow, Blast Factor, Qbert, Rub-a-dub, Calling all Cars, and I plan on buying Rampage but haven't gotten around to it.

Edit: I guess I should have said 6 instead of 5, I didn't count Talladega Nights...

I have bought three movies and got one with my system. I want the new pirates movies and casino royale.
six movies, three games (five if you count DL'd games)

Without using a poll.. its pretty easy to search for sales numbers to the actual customer on both PS3's and BR discs.

Currently the PS3 has sold 3.3 million units world wide (1.4 in America).. while BR discs sales were right over the 1 million mark as of a month ago.

Rough math would indicate for every 3 PS3's sold.. 1 BR disc has been sold from a worldwide perspective.

This poll would indicate a much different attachement rate for AVS members as of right now I count 7.7 Blurays per PS3 by the 38 respondents thus far.

Obviously the attachment rate for AVS members would not be the same as consumers at large. Many people here are buying them as BD players.

As of this coming Wednesday, I'll have 21 movies and 1 game. What does that tell you?

I'm in the 16-20 range now. After the POTC movies I might break the 20 range.

I also have 6 games.

Amon.. what is the POTC movies.. (nevermind.. Pirates of the Caribbean) and isnt the Matrix Trilogy coming soon.. I'd imagine alot of people will be scooping those series up soon..

AFAIK, the Matrix is being released on HD DVD only.

For now, the Blu-ray version should be released later in the year.

Yep...that's right. I totally forgot it was coming out on Blu-ray later on.

1 game
2 Movies

Zero for me, but I Netflix all my Blu-Ray's. Nothing out currently that will make me fork over $30, but Ghost Rider is a possibility.
I also have bought zero BD movies. In similar fashion as thowe21, I rent BDs online but from Blockbuster instead. As for games, I have 3 games so far.

I haven't bought any myself, yet. We do rent almost exclusively on Blu-Ray via Netflix.

Once the price starts to come down another $5 to $10 per disk, I'll start buying some more. Plus, I'll probably buy some TV shows on Blu-Ray as my favorites are released.

I've got 3 right now (Talladega Nights, Kingdom of Heaven: Director's Cut, Crank). But I've rented and watched around 15 more, and watched another 25 or so at my uncle's place.

I voted none.. for two reasons.

One, I am positively disgusted with the freebie TDN BD that came with the PS3, so much so that I want to forget I ever had it.

Two, I did not find any movie worth buying on BR so far. Well, I was tempted with Casino Royale, but not enough to buy it.

OTOH, I own Pitch Black, Riddick, PoTO, Batman Begins and DVE-HD on HD-DVD. I could have done without buying two of those discs.

I might buy The Matrix Trilogy pretty soon, and will definitely buy Lost and Alias collections when released on BD. Till then, no cigar.

I do rent a lot of BD and HD-DVD movies from BBO and Netflix.

I've bought plenty, and tomorrow will give me another 5.

Rentals should have been an option in the poll.

I know a lot of people that rent, and don't buy.

I own T Nights that came with it. I've rented 2 other blu ray discs.

I have purchased probably 20 DVDs in my lifetime, all but 1 or 2 are music/concert DVDs. I don't see the kind of music I listen to moving to high def. discs anytime soon.

So, I might rent some if the stores around here carry them, but I don't see me ever getting a collection.
I bought it for a gaming console and I now own 26 BD titles.

24 BD's with 3 more coming end of the week. Ohh and also 5 games so far.
I only own about 6 Blu-ray movies, however i rent many from blockbuster online. so does that count
post #26 of 44
Own nine. I buy one every now and then.
Voted none - I didn't count TN either - I still would have bought the PS3 had it not been in there. I agree rentals should have been an option. Rented nearly about 27 or so from NetFlix so far.

Maybe I'll put that in the next poll in a couple of months but, you really don't have anything at stake in the format war if you just rent.

So why are you renting anyway?

Couldn't care less about the format war, I bought my PS3 for gaming and Blu-Ray. If HD-DVD wins out fine, but in my opinion that's a year or two down the line and by then hardware cost should be the same as buying an SD DVD player now ($100). No biggie.

I'm in the 11 - 15 category. I just thought it would have been interesting to have the "none" category broken down into "none - games only" and "none- rent only".

I know a bunch of people that don't buy, but rent instead. In some ways, I think these people shouldn't be excluded completely. Would have been interesting to see how that 11% - none is broken down.
