MBL speakers - anyone used in HT setup?

Hello,

I was in my local dealers the other day and was intrigued by the MBL 111's. I am looking to maximize my setup for high-res. CD/SACD/DVD-A in the context of an HT setup and I thought that these speakers sounded really intriguing (though I'm not normally one for the space-age look!). I especially liked the idea of the omni-directional sound, the soundstage was excellent from virtually anywhere in the room. However, I wondered if this might cause problems with localization cues in a HT setup.

I wondered if anyone had any experience with these speakers, in an HT or otherwise.

Thanks,

Brian

Jah, the Strahlers.

They are pretty cool, but I've had them at my house for a short test demo (I think the A/V place would really like to "place them in a good home", if you know what I mean), and so far I'm not as impressed as I thought I might be. So far they don't sound that much better than my Dynaudio Contour 1.8's, but I really need to give them more time to be fair. I have a feeling that my modest system may not be up to their level, actually.

kotches, could you elaborate on what you meant by "the bucks to throw at a solution"? Do you mean room treatments, system upgrades, or something else.

Thanks,

Brian

kotches, also curious as to what you might think of the Dynaudio HT systems as well, specifically the Contour 3.3's with the 120 (I think that's right) Center.

Thanks again,

Brian
