No, I haven't tried that. There is however a grounding wire that is paired along with the L and R audio cables which goes to the case of the receiver. If that isn't connected, there's a really loud buzz that IS silenced by connecting it. However, there's a quiet buzz/hum that is noticeable from the speakers if the volume is at a decent level. This isn't the case at all with the other inputs which are quiet. I don't have a separate phono preamp to test the turntable on the other inputs.
And heck, I don't even have the thing connected currently. I upgraded from a early Marantz 6100 to a modded AR (w/ 3-point spring suspended chassis) and this thing skips like a mother if I even walk by the thing. I still need to get around to making a rack on the wall for it.
