Eproduct Wars

Why is it that Eproduct Wars throws a hissy fit whenever HD-DVD retakes the lead? Last night (GMT) for several hours the website threw up errors and refused to show any graphs. Today it's showing graphs that clearly demonstrate HD-DVD has retaken the lead in many categories, but the website still shows Blu-Ray as leading and shows sales numbers for HD-DVD software that bear no resemblance to what is showing on the graphs! Has the website been nobbled by Blu-Ray hackers?!!

Try giving it 24 hours before you start screaming conspiracy theories. His tool that updates the rank leader probably only checks once a day and it looks like they have only led some catagories for a day, and others for less than a few hours.

I'm really not screaming, rather mildly amused as the eyes were supposed to indicate.

I actually noticed the same thing.

The charts havn't updated since last night. Funny that it seems to break whenever HD DVD takes the lead.

I'm glad someone else noticed too. It is odd isn't it?! It's probably something to do with solar flares or an odd conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter . At least hdgamedb.com is still transmitting the welcome news of HD-DVD's comeback!

Quite a rollercoaster this format war has been. As amusing as it has been to watch, I would really like to see it end already, in one direction or the other. Whether that means a shakeup in industry politics or Walmart taking sides, so be it.

It looks like the eproduct chart now reflects the change in lead.

Give him a break. It's running off an MS Access database, errors are to be expected :-)

I noticed that the site always goes down at inconvenient times, the site also went down on the Blu-Ray buy day. However the Blu-boys have always claimed that the webmaster of eproductwars has a HD DVD bias.

It looks like HD DVD is giving more of a fight than BD was giving it credit for. Of course this is mostly due to The Matrix sets and Universal pouring out all their hits. One has to wonder how long that can last.

Batman Begins has got to be the most consistantly selling HD disc! It's been in the top 10 for the better part of a year!

If this was an HD DVD rollercoaster ride it would be a flat track for long periods of time with occasional peaks and deep declines.

Yesterday when I went to look at it once there was a message that they were working on the site. Seems to make sense to me that the person running it would have some time on a holiday to work on the site, so I'm guessing that this pretty much explains it. I see them doing maintenance every once in a while and consider that a good thing.
