Looking for HTIB with upconversion < $200

I'm looking to get a simple HTIB with upconversion for under $200. It doesn't matter if it's a refurb and 2.1 is all I really need since it will go in a bedroom.

Since it's a father's day gift, I don't want to spend a lot and don't need 5.1 since this will be in a bedroom. I just want to give him something that provides better sound than the speakers built in to TV. Since it's a plasma, I want to replace his existing DVD player with one that upconverts since the scaler in the TV leaves much to be desired.

The best deal I have found so far is for the Samsung X40 for $199, though it may be a misprint since all other stores seem to be selling this for at least $249. It seems like anything under $229 lacks HDMI, which is a real bummer.

Your help and suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Check out the Philips HTS6500 at Costco if you have a membership. Our local store just marked it down to $200.

I must disagree. My Philips HTS-6500/37 has stopped recognizing my commercial dvds after about 6 months of use. I've read other user's problems with the system on amazon and it's not worth 200 bucks.

I got a Philips unit at walmart for under $200.
Does upconversion, has HDMI out, reads USB, AM/FM and an IPOD docking station to boot.
