talk about a friggen steal!

anyways here is the tv stand I picked up from wal mart on saturday in preperation for the sets arrival on friday.

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=7801562

it is about 3-4 inches too small width wise but I think it will work. It was really affordable and it looks pretty clean if I do say so myself.

Still would love to hear more settings from people.

Hi! New to this forum. . .

This is my first HDTV, (and my first TV at all in about four years)... I'm kind of a workaholic but my lady is twisting my arm to make some upgrades to my place.

I got cable today! And an HD box and cables and such, exciting

My question is -- I need a DVD player, I don't think I'm looking for anything special, but doing a price search I've found quite a range, basically $30 to $300.

What am I looking for here??? Can I get away with the $30 one? Would a more expensive one be ideal for this TV?

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Check out the players from these guys: http://www.oppodigital.com/

Best reasonably priced upscaling players around.

my screen looks "pushed-in" in the center--not bowed out, bowed in--does anyone have this and know how to correct it ?? thanx

@scottyjets- Congrats on you new purchase. Now to answer your questions correctly we all need to know a few things about your viewing habits.

1.Do you plan on watching regular DVDs upscaled or are you considering investing in a BD or HD dvd player?

2.What cables are you going to use from your new dvd player to the TV?

3.Do you have a XBOX360 or PS3?

-If you pan on just watching regular dvd upscaled then you options are pretty wide open for choosing a good upscaler. Try not to go to cheap. But if you wanna jump into the big leagues (early) then i would consider the Toshiba A2 or Samsung Blue-ray player.

-Try using only component or HDMI for you connections. Everything else is a waste of PQ.

-And if you have a 360 or PS3 that eliminates your problem since 360 upscales DVDs from VGA or can be upgraded with HDdvd PLAYER FOR CHEAP. And the PS3 has a built in blue-ray player.

The cheaper option is HDdvd

How long have you had the TV? if its within the return period i would try that option ASAP. I havent heard of that issue before.
I have heard from a manager at circuit city that this is a problem with some of them.
I would try to return it or contact samsung and see what they can do for you. I returned my 46 inch to get a bigger 50 in and they told me about that problem. How long have you had it?
thanks otdl!

Well..I don't really have any viewing habits! Like I said I haven't owned a TV in a long time.

I think I would go with the upscaled rather than making an investment on something snazzy.. Unless there's a huge difference in quality? I don't have an Xbox or anything.

How did you get it for $850 total? I went in-store and got the TV for 999.99 + XBox for 199.99... my total was $1287 after tax.

This is before the 10% coupon that I found online. Here's a link to lower your price even more:

It was OOS online so I did not know that you could not combine the $200 off from the TV with the $350 off from the deal. I said I wanted the TV for $999 and Xbox 360 with the $350 off. This would have been $999, the guy has his manager come over and put the $350 discount on the TV. After I paid for it I looked at the receipt and saw $150 off the Xbox too, I was not aware that was supposed to be the only discount. So that's what happened.

Hey guys very long time reader of this board, first time poster I got the HLT-5075s a few months ago in mid-may and it was my very first TV purchase ever, like everyone say i agree the picture is great and all but, I think Samsung should have.. 1) made it accept 1080p inputs via HDMI like all the 2007 Toshiba 720p's do.. that would be even better for HD-DVD/Blu-ray 2) keep the TV guide in the lower end models like in the past 3) no PIP again why strip us these basic nice features as if its something for only the high end when other makers include these features... so i very much hope when the first firmware upgrade comes out for this the HLT 720p's it will enable it to accept 1080p input via HDMI.
what do you guys think about this dvd player for my new hlt5075s??

Got in on this deal, my first hdtv, and I'm loving it so far. Halo 3 looks great on it!
One question, though. I can't seem to get the optical audio out to work. I ordered a couple hdmi cables today and hooked them up to my xbox 360 and my time warner hd pvr. I plugged both hdmi cables into the tv and then wish to use the tv's optical audio out port to connect to my audio receiver. The video comes through the inputs fine, and if you turn up the volume on the tv, the audio works coming through the tv's speakers. However, no audio comes out of my 5.1 receiver. I've checked and re-checked to make sure its on the correct input. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong or why it won't work? Thanks.

also those users that have tweaked their sets can you guys post up your settings please!!

I am thinking about getting the 50". I see the deal on bestbuy.com for $350 off with a purchase of an Xbox 360, but when i add the deal to my cart it only takes $150 off the price of the TV while keeping the Xbox at full price?

What's that all about?

You can't combine the $200 discount and the bundle $350 discount. So $1200-350=850.

I see. That woulda been something. LOL. A free Xbox with the purchase of a TV!

Hey guys, I just bought the HLT4675S at Circuit City. It arrives on Saturday, so I can't wait. My space isn't big enough for the the 50" version or I would have jumped on that Best Buy deal. And, Best Buy no longer carries the 46" version for some reason. Anyway, I got a 10% off coupon from eBay and just wanted to let ya'll know that this seller has legit coupons for those interested:

ETA: I tried posting a link, but it doesn't work here. Anyway, it was eBay item 280155411077 and seller bluerose0675

I was wondering if someone could give me some advice. I bought the HL T5075S and when I access the menu the 'Channel' option is not available, it's dimmed. Many other menu options are not available to me, I think the initial scan the TV did didn't work.

How do I make the necessary adjustments? I read the manual and couldn't find anything.

Your help is appreciated.

I should add that I'm connected to a HD DVR through component cables, but the picture quality is not stellar.

LOVED the TV... hooked up my PS3 on HDMI 1, xbox3 on HDMI 2...
Blueray kick ass.... the sound is not so good, so I am going to take my receiver from bedroom to living room.. but it doesn't have HDMI port on it so far, I haven't mess with the picture setting yet.. but I do notice something when it was connected with my ps3. Everything I switched source, or pressed the HDMI button, it will turn black first, then "searching for signal" ..then after 4 sec, I'd get my image... thats the first problem.. then now, i don't know why, sometime when my PS3 is loading stuffs.. i will get crazy static noise across my TV...don't know why...only happened after I tried to do human race some good ,and installed the Fold@home ... :\\

I think the delay when switching HDMI sources is a handshaking thing that we all experience. Just a normal delay.

You can't run the optical out of your TV if the input source is HDMI. Copy protection rules with the HDMI standard. I had the same issue and found this answer on Samsung's website.
