480 or 720?

With a 720p Sammy should I set the output for DVD playback at 480p or 720p for proper upscaling playback? Thanks.

If you have a dvd that is 480, how is setting the PS3 to output 480 upscaling it?

Set the PS3 for 720p if you want to upscale it.

Thanks Kevin, figured so. Wasn't sure if it was a communication thing with the TV or not. I know that makes no sense now, but just making sure. Thanks again. BTW, it seems the jury has determined that this feature is at least the equal of a $250.00 Denon that I have. Would you agree Kevin? If you say yes I'm selling the Denon tomorrow.

Why not test it for yourself and decide with your own eyes. Very simple to do, play a scene from any DVD with upscaling on, play the same scene on your Denon and you will have proof positive evidence how the PS3's upscaler compares to the Denon.

It will only take a few minutes and you won't regret whichever decision you make since you have seen how it looks for yourself.

Either way it's a small difference. Definitely not a substitute for true high definition media such as blu-ray or hd dvd.
