i have an westinghouse lcd when i watch vhs on it, a little bit of the picture gets crop, becuase of composite input, i was wondering if there is any way to cenvert composite to component, so i can get 480p on my vhs

You can but it won't change anything. The VHS signal you are sending is 240i.

so there is no way to upconvert to 480

Your tv is upconverting it to its native resolution.
