I'm inclined to say it is region free based on this post:

The OP's location is the UK and he has the disc. You might want to send him a PM just to make sure.

I have it too, it has ABC printed on it.

See if you can find 'Equilibrium' on Blu-ray.

Thanks for the info regarding Face/Off.

I thought there would be more of interest on this topic. Perhaps there is not much difference in availability or the info is hard to come by...

There has been another similar topic in a while and there was at least a dozen titles mentioned. From what I remember

Layer Cake - Better video encoding

RE: Apocalypse - Better video encoding

16 Blocks - From Sony, PCM audio and video similar to Warner US release

MI3: double BD-50 with more extras (maybe better econding)

Black Rain: 2 disc set, more extras (maybe better encoding)

Dreamgirls: 2 BD-50 disc set - probably more extras or video encoding

Happy Feet: PCM audio

Warner's early inferior MPEG2 (not that MPEG2 is inferior, but Warner's MPEG2 version of the movies) are in VC-1.

Face/Off, Cinderella Man, Scary Movie 4, Ghost in The Shell 2, Hostel, The Cave, Emily Rose, Rent, Producers, The Pacifier not released on US.

I guess that's a good one to start

I would recommend Yodobashi Camera (many locations, including a huge one in Akihabara). They have a points card too, and they tend to be a bit cheaper than most B&M stores in Japan (most of which sell discs at SRP).

Always thought things in Japan were a bit more expesnive...

I second Yodobashi Camera. Their Akihabara super store is a must see regardless of what you're shopping for. I also recommend signing up for a point card, even if you'll only be in Japan a short while. If you make a big purchase in one department, you can use the points for a later purchase, even that same day.

Speaking of prices, I've found that BIC Camera also sells Blu-ray discs for under MSRP. Usually about 500 yen off most titles. BIC branches are also more numerous and easier to find than Yodobashi as well.

In general it's next to impossible to get Hi-Def titles below $27.

Most of the famous and weird titles cost a min of $33.

If you are rich and desperate to buy some Japan exclusive titles no one is going to stop you.

Thanks for all of the tips.. I am not rich, however I get to buy them on the company dime (I work for Pioneer).... I went to both Yodabashi and Bic in Shinjuku (Not a big fan of Akihabara anymore)..

I will post artwork later today..

Great stuff Walkamo,

please report back and if you could compare Hellboy, Casino Royale and Black Rain to the US realease it would be awesome.

Also, please check if CR is fully uncut ; )

Picked up Ghost In The Shell 2 Innocence...

Haven't had a chance to play it yet.

I saw that Ghost In The Shell 1 and Akira were due out in the next two months. Wish I could have picked those up...
