Recommendations for 50+'' LCD Display

Hey,

I have been researching LCD displays online however the sheer amount of TV's in the market is beginning to scare me... lol. I'm looking for a 1080p LCD display bigger than 50 inches. I know there is a lot to consider such as video processor, color saturation, and several other factors.

I am really afraid of going to Best Buy or somewhere and buying a mediocre TV for several thousand dollars.

Thus, I hope I can depend on the knowledge of this forum to help me. What is the best LCD display over 50''?

Should I stick with the big-guys such as Sharp, Sony, Samsung? Or do makers like Vizio and Olevia make just as a good as a TV?

Thanks a lot guys! Any response would be very helpful!

PS: Please do not factor the built in speakers of the TV into consideation. I will buying a separate sound system. Only picture quality.

Assuming you want to buy really soon:

New 65 incher by Sharp is emerging as the top of the cream. PQ is stated as superb with nothing compromised:

If you think about buying later this year wait for the new lines from Samsung and Sony. There might be then hard time to select between the new models from the big SSS.

There will be a new VIZIO 52" LCD HDTV in Costco next month and there is a $200 off coupon in the Passport for August. If you can wait until next month you could check out the picture performance next month and compare it to Sharp, Sony and Samsung

It is unlikely the PQ will be comparable to NEW glass from the big guys. The new 65 incher from Sharp is showing this already.
