has anyone tested qsc rmx 5050 or the crest ca18 (the mystery amp)
I have rmx 5050 running 4 buttkicker at 2 ohm stereo and test tones will produce 93 at 70 hz and 83 at 35 hz any lower and buttkickers bottom out all voltages maintaned with clip lights off 19 amps @230 volts for 35 hz test also can bottom out orion hcca 15 on aggresive rock / techno music
3400 - 4300 watts into voice coils is interesting but i want to see an rms test into resistors

I found the 1850hd on flea bay yesterday... It's gone today.. can't find it anymore...

I'm looking for some used 3402,3002 & 2402 QSC amps..

But right now I'm leaning toward 3 EP2500 amps.. I just want to audition one in my system before I buy the amps..

And correction on the RMX1850HD, it's 350w/ch 8ohms...

Regards,
Jose

Somebody knows him some Carver amps.

Here are the results of testing the Face Audio F1200TS in 8 ohm bridged mode. I have been advised BY THE FACTORY NOT to test or run this amplifier with a 4 ohm load in bridged mode.

1760w is pretty good.

I wonder why the factory says not to run their amps bridged @ 4ohms? Maybe they need to upgrade caps so they wont pop?

Ship date was mid-july...sent an email to the sales guy Louise at audiolines.com saying I was ready for it....email bounced back but another guy called leaving a message saying something about the charge going through wrong.... no PG3800 yet.

I have not been home all month either so I have not try to call them yet.

hmmm....good thing I do not have anything a want to connect to it bridged @ 4 ohms!!

What would connecting my IB array at 8 ohms bridged give me different then connecting each channel @ 4 ohms?

I just wanted to drop a note that Sherv has received the AA V5001 amp and should be able to start some eval this weekend.

The distortion number is pretty high considering previous tests on other amplifiers (EP2500, XS900....) are a fraction of 1%.

Not really. Chuck is just now taking the measurements at both Manuf spec and at 1% THD.

What would happen if you ran a amp with one side at 4ohm and the other at 2ohm....is that pretty much a terrible idea?? What would happen if you showed the amp a 6ohm load? thanks!
The real evaluation is on the bech where it can be measured driving a load. Evaluating amps by ear(when it comes to power output) tells little.

If Chuck tested it it,and it performs close to spec gets the seal.

In pro world it does happen every day mismatch load nothing unusual you have to think as two different amps in one case so each side doesn't know what going on on the other side as long your amp is rated for the load (just like the government left hand not talking with the right hand ) , 6 ohms load do your math you would get about half way between the power of 8 and 4 ohms, IE your amp is capable of 100 watts @ 8 ohms and 200 @ 4 ohms well six ohms would be about150 watts.

What is the final verdict on the Face Audio F1200TS Amp?

I am considering coupling this with the Maelstrom-X which shows it would run at 3.2 ohms if I parallel the VCs. I was thinking of bridging but it didn't sound like the amp would handle this low of an impedance?

What other options would there be in this price/performance range (Amps that is, I think I am sold on the Maelstrom)?

Thanks

As of now, its pretty much impossible to beat the EP2500 as far as performance for your $$ is concerned. They can be easily modded to lower the fan noise (either resistor mod or fan replacement).

For sub duties, EP2500 all the way from now on. That means I will be selling my FACE F1200TS amp because it has no home. Besides, I just spent almost $2K on a Sunfire amp!!

Assuming EP2500 means the Behringer EuroPower EP2500 Power Amp?

Any good recomendation on where to buy this at? I just looked it up and the price seems...well a bit low. I am not complaining, but I could afford to go up to say 1k or so per amp if I can get better quality, but thats not saying I want to throw my money away either, heh.

Some people think there is a difference but I didnt find a big enough difference to care.

Yep, they are cheap and powerful. I do a google and buy the cheapest ones

you can buy my face amp! its even more powerful!!

A voice coil having a DC resistance 3.2Ω is considered to be within or = to a 4Ω nominal load.

The EP2500 is available at djdeals.com for $298 delivered(shipped via UPS ground from New York, NY) and also slightly less currently via Amazon.com, but vendor and availability may vary.

lol, I have been thinking about it...but its used from audiogon and expensive....not sure about any warranty....yikes!! Chuck might fry it.

I would love to get the measurements though. Here are the specs

425 watts rms continuous per channel, all channels driven into eight ohms from 20Hz to 20kHz with no more than 0.5% T.H.D.
850 watts rms continuous per channel, all channels driven into four ohms.
1700 watts rms continuous per channel, all channels driven into two ohms – time limited basis.
Two output options: current source for a warmer, more open tube sound or voltage source for all the tight response this awesome solid state amplifier can deliver
Intrinsic frequency response one Hz to 80 kHz
Patented Tracking Downconverter power supply
Signal present auto-on switch which automatically wakes up the amp when it receives a signal from the Sunfire or other preamp
High-quality gold-plated all metal five-way binding posts
Each unit hand-signed by Bob Carver
Balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs
Dimensions: 19" wide, 6.5" high, 16.5" deep

Im going to test two channels with my two ported TC2000 subs, they are 4 ohms so 850Watts is perfect for them.
