Does Free Record Shop require that you enter your address a particular way? I can't seem to figure out why I cannot get an order to go through.

Got mine 2 days after I placed my order.

Fast but extortionate shipping costs.

Ordered mine Monday received Friday. Plus they have a coupon for 6 euro off next order. 5.17 after VAT. Already used it on another order for titles that were out on Monday. Shipping is high but worth it when doing 4-6 disk orders for me.

Just got the Japanese import of "The Gift". PQ is simply stunning. Audio is DD+ and nothing exciting for the most part.

Torchwood Confirmed For Release

In a turn of good news, BBC have now listed the HD-DVD version of Torchwood : The Complete First Series on their website available to pre-order, previously only the Blu-Ray version was listed but has now been joined by the HD version.
Some people feared it would never come out especially after other recent titles have got the chop.

Torchwood : The Complete First Series is out 30th June 2008 RRP is a high £54.99 but its one the last HD-DVD's ever but you can pick it up for under £39, and its a cracking series that I recommend to anyone.
You can order it here BBC - £38.49, AmazonUK - £41.24, HMV - £47.99, Play.com - Not available to pre-order yet.

Just a note - the BBC does not ship to the U.S. or Canada, their site refers you to BBC America for North American customers and BBC America doesn't list Torchwood. I have it pre-ordered from Amazon.co.uk - the £41.24 price drops to £35.10 after removal of VAT for delivery outside the E.U.; with shipping the total is £38.18, around $76. It's a 6 disc set, a little over $12.00 per disc. Highly recommended.

Also, I received Tomb Raider 2, Cradle of Life from 1ADVD.ch in Switzerland - excellent PQ and DTS-HD audio. A little over $43 charged to my CC. Very happy with the purchase.

Any comments on the AQ/PQ of "Hotel Babylon"? I just ordered it from the Hut.

I'm hoping the PQ is good, plus I can see how well my player and TV handle PAL as it's a combo.

I enjoyed the series; the PQ (VC-1) is good, the audio is only stereo, but adequate for a TV series. Some playback issues with the discs - Disc 1 would not load at all on my XA2, the first playback issues I've ever had with my XA2. Discs 2 & 3 played fine the XA2, and all 3 discs played fine on my A35 backup player.

I got the German release of Day of the Condor. Outstanding PQ and AQ, but does have forced subs on the English audio. Subs are under the picture, so not intrusive at all.

I've found that the subs are more distracting when they're in the black than when they're in the picture. My eyes keep getting drawn down to the bottom bar and I can't stand it!

On imports in general, has anyone tried covering up the ratings symbols on the spines at least? Of course you can't really cover up the symbols on the front and back, but I'm tempted to take to the spines with a silver Sharpie or spray paint on the ones with silver spines, at least. Neatly applied, of course.

Just purchased Brotherhood of the Wolf from www.dvd.co.uk/ for $22.46 including the shipping. (13.49 Euros + 1.00 Euro S&H) They have a special 2 HD DVD's for 10 Euros right now + 2 Euros for S/H = $18.60 here (WOW!!!) Many imports for sale. They also have 2 for 15 Euros. Check them out. Just picked up Blade Runner and Fearless brand new for the 2 for 10 deal they have.

Well, if I'm reading bol.com correctly, Charlie Wilson's War is out on HD-DVD. I don't speak Dutch and I can't seem to format my address correctly.

Anybody brave enough to order it?

I see 2 for 10 (and the 2 for 15) British pounds not Euros. The Dollar is a lowly 2:1 to the Pound right now. I do very much thank you for the info though.

You are correct. 1 British pound = US 1.97290.
I've still never seen a Brotherhood of the Wolf for $28.58
Dvd.co.uk Still is a GREAT deal for their 2 for 10. Glad to help out even a little.

So what all is coming out in Europe on HD DVD? I see that Torchwood is still coming out, but what else is there?

Quentin Tarantino's "Death Proof" is slated for release in Germany on June 30. Amazon.de just lowered the pre-order price from 31.95 Euro to 27.95, so it's encouraging this might actually make it out.
Trainspotting is now "pre-orderable" at Amazon (UK) with a October 20th 2008 release. It is the last HD DVD listed at Amazon.co.uk according to release date. Cross your fingers.

I got the same email. What a bummer. With the price change earlier this week I was really thinking this would make it out.
