I think the movie has more pop to it than the SD DVD and the dark sets look fine because most of that is director's intent and all. Either way I'm not regretting it anyway. I could play a few of those scenes over and over again. Yes I know it's not realistic for Bale to not get shot at all, but that's why it's entertaining. I'm going to grab one of the custom English covers and use one of my blank cases I bought new for backup and put the movie together right. Get it before it's gone. Good luck.

I agree. It is a well done encode and looks really nice. I really enjoy the movie and can't see any thing that detracts from it. So if a bluray version came out, I do not think I would buy it, unless it was an highly improved version, which i doubt would ever happen. :-)

For those that have, is it that good of an upgrade over the SD version (which I own) or do you think I should just hold onto it as a collector's item? Before I recently checked this thread I had no idea it had suddenly gotten so scarce of an item.

I did not know it was so scarce, guess it might be. I think its an improvement over the DVD IMO. As far as a collectors item, depending on how much you like the movie, you can always buy another copy. Or if you are worried about this one getting scratched or something, just do like i do with my movies i watch frequently and put them on a media server That would solve your problems.

I am trying to order some import HD DVD's from Amazon.de, but it says they cannot ship them to my house. Is this a common thing?

Are you ordering direct from Amazon.de or the Marketplace?

Man, good thing I checked this thread. I've been waiting for somewhere to get equilibrium again. One of my all time favorites! And don't worry about spending 50 bucks on it. The blu-ray version (if there ever is one) will likely cost that much anyway.

That's weird.

They should have no issues delivering to the US.

Well, I don't read German, so I just assume that it's from Amazon.

I went through the same process when I preordered my German Terminator 2, and didn't have any issues.

Is "Verfügbarkeit: Auf Lager. Verkauf und Versand durch Amazon.de" written in the 2nd Line below the price? If not than your buying rom a marketplace! (This sentence means: Availability: In stock. Sold and shipped by Amazon.de.)

Thanks for the heads up. MUCH better shipping than Amazon.de, I would think folks should start at Mediadis first (and they're very reliable, I've ordered from them several times in the past).

Amazon.de had it at 20 Euros, which was the best price. I think it's gone back up, unfortunately. Keep checking there, it might fluctuate.

I just received mine the other day. It's not a great movie but it's certainly a weird, compelling one. I just had to have it

Most of these are listed as PAL. Do PAL discs play on American players?

They will work on American players.

The player is Region 1 for SD DVD. HD DVD does not have region coding so you can play any HD DVD from anywhere in the world on any HD DVD player (with the exception of Relentless Enemies and Stalingrad (Enemy at the Gates) which have some sort of bug on specific player models if I recall correctly)

i just wanted to let people know that i was inqiuring about the release of the Death Proof hd dvd import that i had pre ordered from hd addicts beacuse i noticed a bump in the release date on amazon.de to sometime in june as opposed to the march 23 release date.
I asked the question to Jason from Hd addicts and got this response this morning.

The distributor has simply replied that there never was an official date. As of today the title has not been cancelled, but word has it that a Blu-ray version is coming out in May or June and they won't release the HD DVD version until then.

I received my copy of the Japanese release of Underworld. AVC and TrueHD. It looks and sounds incredible. I may find myself popping this disc in as a reference to show my friends, every now and then.

All the Japanese imports that I own seem to be VERY high quality. Not a lot of discs, just The Prestige, Underworld, and BoB set.

is now in stock at Xploited Cinema. Id suggest you get it cause I can almost see this being the last pressing or remainders from a previous pressing. Full set only as it is offered only that way.

Anyone have band of brothers import from Japan? Im really going back and forth over whether to get this or not. I love that series and would hate to miss out on HD DVD release, but if the PQ is not far superior to the SD DVD, then I dont really want to pay a huge premium.

So, is it really a great difference? Im upconverting the SD DVDs on an XA2

There's a huge thread on this series. And yes, the differences are huge too. Worth every penny. Audio is stunning as well.
