I actually work at the one in Richardson. We have 8 players right now...

I'm looking at their advertisement included in todays Houston Chronicle.

The HD-A2 is listed on Pg 6 at $299 BEFORE instant savings of $100.

That's out the door at $199.

If Conn's is out of stock, take the ad to Best Buy for a price-match.

Is this a pricing mistake?
Wow....$199
That is an amazing price. Wish they delivered to NC
post #8 of 87
Wow. Who would have thought we would have seen $199 at a B&M store before the holidays.
Dayum! I might have to swing over to the nearest Conns and pick one of these up.

i live in richardson..damn, this is tempting, especially with the 5 free movies.

I'd also have to upgrade my receiver though -- can't do HDMI right now

What???
You don't need a receiver that has HDMI to enjoy the benefits of HD. I know you can't get Dolby HD with the A2 if your receiver doesn't support it, but the normal DD tracks are great too. I think the upgrade in picture quality is more important when it comes to HDDVD.

This is for real !! I just went and purchased one. It was marked $199.00 on the shelf and the sales rep was aware of the pricing.

Now...I'm gonna go hook it up.

For now you could hook it up via the spdif optical connector and get the DD+ and Dolby True HD soundtracks converted to 1.5mps DTS.

Jeeez, at $199 that's a great price just for its upconversion of standard def DVD.

is it featured in the weekly ad? Also I cant find it on their website

After the 8.25% sales tax and ebay fees, the profit would probably be less than $40. Still not bad for the would be entrepreneur.
Yes, it's official. Going to put one on layaway!! LOL
post #20 of 87
Wow, thanks to the OP. I just ran out and got the ad, will be taking it to Best Buy tomorrow to get a price match. You just saved me $108!

And I thought I got a good deal from Amazon last weekend.
Oh yeah.... I'm going tomorrow... to all of them in the DFW area if I have to. I missed out on that Amazon price...want to make sure I can snag one now at this price. A2's will probably still come down even more over the next few months, but this will make a good father's day gift...

I sure hope so. I have never been in a Conn's but I will be by about 5pm tomorrow (I would have to be working) and If they have one left I will buy for sure. I have about 3 stores in reasonably close driving distance.

That is an incredible deal!!! $199! That is impulse buying, heck I could see people buying 3 or 4 to re-sell them after the $100 promotion is over to make a profit!
