I put my 50" on the Avion 8527 and it looks awesome. It is pricey, but if you have the money its worth it. It has lots of features like hidden wheels and leg levelers, Sliding rear panels so you can easily access the rear of the components and wire management. It really sets it at the perfect viewing height. http://www.bdiusa.com/avfurniture/avion_8527.shtml

I saw no difference between that stand and the ones selling for $200 elsewhere. My goal was the smallest footprint possible as all of my AV stuff is in another cabinet.

Is it possible for you to post the height of the stand as it is not listed on their site. Looks good!

Ah I wish I never noticed it, now I focus on that spot. It's so bad it can make scenes of cartoons blurry. If you end up calling service let us know how it goes.

Both stores only had a 720 signal and they had both sets were about 8 ft apart, and the E3000 was 50" and the A3000 was 60". So, I was unable to compare apples with apples.
The only thing I could discern was that the A3000 "looked" a little brighter on the whites and I could not tell any difference in detail.
So, I really could not tell any difference due to not being able to compare them under the same conditions.
I have checked out the A3000 thread and there are over 5000 posts, vs the E3000 thread with around 200 posts. So, if you look at #s, there sure are alot of A3000 owners.
Have any of you been able to do a fair direct comparison of the same size sets sitting side by side ?
If so, can you give me your UNBIASED opinion????
I figured if I post this question in the A3000 section they would tell me to just but the A3000.
Your honest opinions appreciated on your preferences. the difference is around $300 for the two same size sets.
Thanks
By the way, I typically only rent DVDS from blockbuster, dont have cable, and only expect to go with antenna signals for my local TV.
Much appreciated

The A3000 is a better set no doubt, it will offer you better black levels and better color and it gives you a brighter picture. Most people that know anything will tell you to get the A3000 the LcoS (liquid crystal on silicon) technology is better than Rear projection LCD. For only $300 more it's a steal.

Oh in white scenes or anything with white background, it's like looking out your screen door on a hot summer night hiding from mosquitos. Screen door was very apparent when I owned this set when looking at a white background. And then the heavy pixelation, occurs alot with any thing moving even slightly fast.

Judging from the guy that posted his service pics, I can tell why we see that spot on the lower portion of the tv. Right at the bottom of the mirror, looks to be a gun/light source and its probably the most brightest there and thats why we see it. Im going to buy a new tv stand that sits 2-4 inches lower and hopefuly I wont notice it so much.
I found moving my couch about 2 feet back so I am around 9 feet from the TV made a big difference in the amount of screen door effect I noticed. Even the dreaded "spot" I only see now if try hard to find it.
Ya I set about 10 feet from mine and I only see the 1 spot. I think its becuase my tv is above eye level so hopefully when I get the new sony stand it will lower it a good 4 inches and I wont see it so bad.
I have no spots or screen door on mine and we sit exactly 10' from the tv which sits on my stand (homemade of maple for roughly $85) at a height of 22.5".
I believe I'll go home and move my couch back an additional foot based on the last two comments!

Stupidly I misplaced the manual for my 46E-3000.

I can't find it on the Sony website--it says it is not available.

Can anyone point me to where I can find it on the web?

TIA,

I have played both the wii and xbox360 on it and loved it. They both look great (obviously xbox360 looks better) and I have not noticed any lag even with guitar hero. I have not noticed any overscan issues at all. Both the wii and xbox were hooked up via their respective brands component cables. The set has an option to set "game mode" on any individual input coming in to the TV.

Hi guys,
I am new owner of KDF46E3000. It was delivered yesterday and I got it up and running last night. It was a replacement for 46" Samsung HLP4663, which crapped out on me after 3 years. So far I am very pleased with this unit. Prices have sure dropped in three years.

Noting complaints by others, I listened closley for noise (with the set muted). I hear a faint fan noise, but nothing to complain about.

BTW, Fry's Online store still shows the KDF46E3000 at $1299.

Hey Phillip ---

I actually live in Lawrence. At the risk of showing my age I was an undergrad at KU when we went to the Orange Bowl ('69)--we're going to win this time

Guys I've beening reading all the Sony RPTV posts for the last 3 weeks. I would love to get the A3000 series but for same price including the extended warranty, I can get either an A2020 or an E3000 along with a new xbox, upconversion DVD player, and 2 HDMI cables. So what is ultimately better. I can not find any descisive posts on a superior series. My main concern with PQ is for my xbox, then movies, and TV I honestly don't give a **** about. The sharpness goes to the E3000 right? But overall for gaming and movies what set is Superior????????

Assuming the "worst" of the 3 sets still has a great picture, is worth it to you to have the best picture available or to have a great picture and a new XBox, upscaling DVD player and 2 HDMI cables???

Ultimately, the call is up to you and what suits your needs best.

The price difference was about 700 dollars when I bought my tv. So you can see why I didnt get the A3000.
Well I would kinda rather have a great picture and have the new xbox and DVD player. But Between the A2020 and the E3000 are there any significant differences aimed towards games PQ, rather than TV channels. When I watch TV it doesnt matter how good it looks to me. But I want my games to look spectacular. So with that in mind would you go for the 50in E3000 or the 55in A2020? (the 5in makes no diff to me I just want the best PQ)

I have been very pleased with video game performance on this TV. Looks great and no noticable lag and has a "game mode" for each input that seems to work. I am not sure how much information you will find on this thread reguarding the A2020. You might need to go to the A2020 thread look at the comments people make about game performance and make your own descision. I can say that for the cheaper price I can't imagine you will be dissapointed with this TV.
Well, I watched the Cowboy game yesterday and the picture on my new E3000 was excellent -- almost jaw-dropping. It is definitely as good as I had hoped.

DVD's from blockbuster are awesome too. I haven't tried HDVD and I haven't tried X-box gaming, but there is no reason to expect anything less than great from what I have seen so far..
Does anyone have a DVD player hooked up to a 50E3000 that has progressive scan? When I use the DVD player with this TV and set it to pogressive scan, I feel it looks worse than without it. It changes the signal from 480i to 480p, but I think it loses detail. The DVD player is hooked via component cables. Everything else I have that is standard def (wii and sd cable) looks better at 480p than 480i. My DVD player is the only exception. Any thoughts?

(I am at work and don't remember the model of the sony DVD player I have or I would include it).
