Streaming DVD's to Xbox 360's Now Possible?

This product seems very intriguing http://www.ehomeupgrade.com/entry/3944/webguide_4_1

Can it really stream DVD's in their original format for both DVD's in a local drive (or changer) or stored on the hard drive? If so, how can this be legal?

Also, compiling all the data in all the Media Center's is a very good idea as well. I doubt there is any way that you could share HD cable recorded via a cable card to other computers but it would be very interesting if you could do that as well with this software.

If this will be able to stream DVDs with subs that would be great.

No. DVDs would need to be transcoded first in order to play on Extenders. WebGuide includes transcoding to do this for you.

This is what I thought as well, similar to Transcode 360's functionality. It grabs the main title and transcodes the VOB to WMV for streaming to the 360, you won't get menus or anything fancy like that.

The alternative is to use something like Videoredo to convert a single VOB file (use dvd decrypter) to convert it to an MPG format. You'll lose the menus and chapters, but you should be able to stream it to the 360 w/o any additional software.
