Would this be a kit you supply for the end user to do at home? I would guess the crossover/wiring upgrade would come as a crossover with the source/sink wiring attached, and you would simply attach to the binding posts and drivers?

Also, what are the outriggers you're referring to?

Thanks!
Outriggers are footings which are used to isolate and stabilize large floorstanding speakers.
Gotcha... I currently have my 6.1s on carpet without the feet and they seem plenty stable... I've been looking at these brass/gold M8 threaded spikes but now I may wait to see what John comes up with.

John, on the electronics is there already a revised design in existence or development? If not, what are the design goals (i.e. what are you planning to improve on)?

And I know it's purely aesthetic and might present 0% margin opportunity, but a glossy/molded tweeter enclosure ala the x.2 series would make my day.

So I think I was one of the first to get on the backordered list with Oz... I ordered a set of 6.1s in BC and the next day I saw everything said "Pre order"... I contacted them and found I was on the backorder list.

I was considering canceling my order but I got a sweet deal on them. Not only am I getting the Swans D1080 MKIIs but I also got cash back and used some paypal coupons.

I ended up getting the 6.1s for $584 for a pair after Cashback and a 15% off coupon (Paypal coupon, max $100).

Then I got the C3 for $276 after Cashback (Could have gotten this for a little cheaper if I waited).

So I got over $1400 worth of speakers for like $860. (PLus I get %3 back from my credit card :-D)

I had another 10% coupon but i used it on my Onkyo 805 because it was more expensive.

Now I just have to wait to see if they are worth it. Also what surrounds should I get?
Depends on how you're wanting to mount the surrounds. I use 2.1s on stands because my back wall setup (partially pitched with the roof line) won't allow me to use R3s. I've also considered using in-walls of some sort, but the 2.1s do such a great job it's hard to get motivated to replace them.

Also, does anyone know of a U.S. source of the Swans VX6-W or VX8-W in-wall speakers? John?

How do you get the paypal coupons? The Divas where on ebay? I could not find any?

They were sold under OZhometheater, Steve did some people a favor and put a few items on there. Not sure if he still has some on there.
I am interested in getting the Swans 6.1, but on ozhometheater the set for the rosewood is around 1k with free D1080 MKII.

On ebay with live cash back, there's a 20% off ($200 dollar max correct?) and that would drop the price for the rosewood to around $850 which I am interested in, but does it come with the D1080 MKII monitors?? (I'm guessing no?)

So my question would be should I purchased from Ozhometheater or should I get it from ebay, with the savings I could get the C3 center to accompany these speakers and have a very nice 3.1 to start off with. (Sub would probably be MFW-15 but seeing as the deal for black friday is over I may look else where)

So is the D1080 MKII worth the $200 savings on ebay?
I think the D1080 set is $150 new, so the cash-back is probably the better value, especially if it means getting the C3 sooner. That said, at least one person here has received the D1080 offer along with an eBay cashback order, though he placed his order when they were listed as in-stock, but actually got put on the backorder list.

I'm glad somebody listened to me when I posted this earlier in the thread I am interested in seeing what Jon's mods are for the Swans, hmm, maybe new crossovers with mundorf caps and foil inductors
post #1663 of 3844
I think I only got that offer because I ordered them expecting them to be in stock and then they were not. Shoot them an email and ask, it's worth giving it
A shot.

As for the paypal coupons, eBay sends them out kinda random and you can only use it if you get it because it is tied to your accound.( though I've heard of people calling paypal saying they couldn't get their coupon to work, when they didn't have one, and paypal crediting them the money) I had to use my moms account for one and my girlfriends eBay and paypal account for the other

It is directed at Diva. We're also starting in, finally, on the D2.1se Signature and a likely M1 rework -- I've been rummaging around in my bag of tricks. All TAI-specific designs will be offered as field kits as well as rebuild services.

ETA's get me in as much trouble as the next guy, so I'll venture Feb 09 for the first of these models, very likely the D2.1se Sig followed by the M1 Sig. Should all of this go smoothly, OZ will be instrumental here too, and will likely be your first line for the Diva mod kits and reworks.

At some point here we'll also want to reassess your tastes for all-black Diva -- 100 piano black, just like the current end caps on the Diva line. Feel free to drop us a line with your points of view on such a thing...

Heh. Very pricey but with who we know, Mundorf is actually possible. Perhaps a second level/top tier Siggie? It all depends on the market. Either way, we'll be providing very good quality new US-made boards and component lists of my spec thereon, plus 100% TAI-approved wiring and a general optimization of all things related to bass definition and overall sonic purity.

Don't know if I mentioned it, but our work on the D2.1se-style system goes back nearly thirty years, so that'll be some fun stuff to revisit. I think you'll have fun with that particular tuning...

What about the all-black, silver-black, and red-black Diva x.2 that's listed on the Swans Europe site? These look like they're not the most expensive of finishes and could maybe be offered as a BC equivalent for the x.2 line?

Couple questions:

im looking to buy a pair of 6.2s and a center. is the C3 the best match for these?

Also, if I order from theaudiostore, are these in stock for fast delivery or is this backordered? Or course I want my new toys soon

Posting that question since it can be hard to reach somone, and of course Ive got to act before my wife comes to her senses
post #1668 of 3844
Do the 6.1's come with speaker spikes or is that something I have to get on my own? Also if I have wood floors, do I need to use speaker spikes?

Thanks,
s-one
like all the divas they come with a spike that is attached to a coupling disc (by the means of a screw right through tip of the spike) The spikes threads are an M8 which aren't the easiest spike to find and better yet at a reasonable price. If you are considering replacing them with a quality spike that is currently out now try these http://www.gr-research.com/index.asp...ROD&ProdID=105

Forgive me if this has already been mentioned.
Are there any new dipole/bipole surround speakers being developed?

Not among the series we carry. The D series will launch a new mini before long -- the D1.1se -- that shall serve as an outstanding effects/surround speaker for a number of locations but it'll be standard bookshelf style. Current onwall surround models for the Diva series include the newer 5.2r and 4.2r, while the R3 continues from the original Diva series.

Jon,

Just to confirm our discussion on this concerning plans for the D series as it may be beneficial to others.

There will be two versions of the center:
D1.1 SEC will be appropriate when using the D2.1 SE as the fronts
D2.1 SEC will be appropriate when using towers as the fronts

The surrounds will be the D1.1 SE and will be a mini-monitor version of the D2.1 SE.

If I misinterpreted your comments, please let me know.
Thanks again for your assistance.

Nick

That's it in a nutshell, Nick, although the D1.1sec will also go with the D1.1se. Of course, 3x (or 5x or 7x) D1.1se would be perfectly matched as well...

Ordered my 6.2s and a 5.2C center channel. I am hoping my wife will let me have them before Xmas Ill let you know how they sound. Ordered a Pioneer Elite sc-05 to go with it.

Of course the rest of the system will have to wait a bit longer. Right after I bought them, my wife got laid off. No more sugar mama

Thank you Jon.
I've asked this question twice previously a few pages back, without reply, but would you be able to tell me which is your 'best' surround speaker? The 5.2r or the R3?
Thanks

... have the Song Towers or the V3's that I can listen to? I'll be happy to supply beers of your choice for the opportunity. I want to be able to listen to both to see if it's worth the extra money for the higher-priced speakers. Please PM me. Thanks!

You want the "Salk" thread. This is for "Swan" speakers.

I would try to find an audition for Swans flagship series. I have the F2.2's and they are the best thing I have ever heard.....yet

Where can I audition the Diva Songtowers? ...... :-)
