You're funny! You really like to argue, don't you. Well, unfortunately, I don't. Waste of time. I truly, madly, deeply could not care less whether you like the look, or in fact the sound, or the veneer or anything else, about Swans, or any other speakers! Interesting to read what you think, just like anyone else, but trust me, I'm not losing any sleep over it.
You are perfectly welcome to say whatever you think about anything, Swans or otherwise. The only issue I had was the way you keep insisting it's a fact that the new tweeter mount doesn't look as good IRL as it does in my pictures. Buddy, you need to review the difference between fact and opinion. You think they don't look as good IRL, I think they do (and apparently several other members do as well). So what? Who cares? These are our opinions, and we're both entitled to them. Geez. Get a beer or something dude!

What's a dimple effect? (I have no experience in furniture finishing.) You mean how there's a slight ripple kind of look to it if you look very closely? OK, no problem. I don't require world class finishes. If you do, these probably aren't for you. Call me a bohemian, I think the finish is cool, even if it's obviously not Dali Helicon or even Onix Ref quality.
I really don't get your sincere wish that I didn't pay $1000 for my 5.2s. Umm... Why? Other than the current sale pricing, that's their regular price, and they're a steal at that price! Don't agree? Cool!! Buy something else!
As it happens, I'll answer your question and tell you that no, I didn't pay full price. I received a discount because Jon Lane invited me to participate in his "beta test reviewer" program. I purchase his products at a discounted rate (which at his request will remain undisclosed) and in return I commit to write an online review. I do NOT commit to write a POSITIVE review. Let's be very clear on that. I commit to write an HONEST review, good or bad. I cannot be paid to lie, unless you're offering me a check with a lot of zeros before the dot.
In fact, in my review of the 5.2Fs, I bitched and moaned about the decision to put the binding posts on the bottom. I also complained about how small they are (12 gauge wire barely fits), how difficult if not impossible it was to use anything on them other than bare wire, and the fact that they're not bi-amp capable.I further complained that the bass seemed a bit muddy and undefined to me compared to my buddy's B&W DM604 S3s. Break-in, better room placement, and better amplification thoroughly solved this problem.
And, I pointed out that they require better amplification than my Onkyo 100 watt/channel receiver could give them. They were fine at low volumes, but lost transparency and started sounding a bit strained at anything close to higher volumes. After extensive TAI forum posts and email discussions with Jon, and having tried a couple different cheaper amps before finally breaking down and buying the Emotiva gear I have now (LMC-1 pre/pro and LPA-1 amp), I can finally say the 5.2s sound incredible. I have no issues with them whatsoever, and had I in fact paid $1000 for them, I would still be absolutely happy with them. I even tried some mixing on them, with excellent results. The only reason I don't have them hooked up at the moment is I'm still having too much fun with my new Dana 930s I just got this week. In fact the 930s are SO good, I might have to pack up the 5.2s and put them away for later when I have a nice big room to use them in for home theater. They're too good to not use them somewhere.
So you see, I'm not married to my Swans. I just happen to think they're fantastic speakers that look great and are WAY more than fairly priced, even at $1000. (That was an excellent example of an OPINION, BTW.
