A couple of pics of the 5.1's for those waiting on theirs:




I spoke with Jon about the speakers today and he said they do take a brief time to break-in, roughly around one week. So I am going to take it a little easy on them for a week and then I will do some more critical listening but so far they do sound very good out of the box. Also make sure you remove the foam insert in the baffle as it is for shipping purpose only per Jon.

I will post a pic or two of the R3's when I get them mounted on the wall.

Just received my 5.1's today. Took a while to unpack and was sweating when I was all done. Haven't hooked up yet. Here you go.

Looking to get the 5.1s for R/L Fronts/Rears and the C3... Any one compared them the AV123 Rockets or X-Series?

If I have read correct, the 5.1s are able to be bi-amped with the correct receiver (I have the Onkyo 605), right?

Yes, the 5.1 can be bi-amped. Actually the 5.1's have three sets of posts on them if I am correct. They could be tri amped. You would use both the front A channels and the surround back channels. You will not be able to use the 7.1 setup if you bi amp the speakers. I use a Yamaha RX-S661 receiver and have my 6.1's hooked up via bi-amp mode. I like the bi amp mode much better as I think the sound is much better and you have separate amps controlling the highs and lows.

Ya best hurry if you want the 5.1's since I hear the rosewood has sold out. If this is accurate, Black Cherry is all that remains.

I just got the 6.1's and R3's the other day. I'm using banana plugs on all of them. I'll do the same when I get the C3 shortly.

I just recently got the 4.1's from newegg for $99 each + shipping. Great deal i must say. I've been loving them so far...
I'm curious about the pricing on the tower speakers at theaudioinsider.com, are they each or per pair.. they seem a bit high if they are each.. It says nothing about being per pair but according to a price sheet i saw somewhere, if those are each then they are higher than list prices for these..

Our product are featured per pair unless otherwise indicated. Each page includes price particulars in the features bullets at the bottom of the page...

thanks jon. Looks like your prices are very good then. Eventually i'm going to need either a pair of bookshelves or dipoles.. I'll most likely stick with swan since i've been happy so far.

Does the bi-amping really help that much? I have the onkyo 804 and I am running a 5.1 system so I have 2 free channels. I was under the impression that, since the onkyo's have a single power supply there will not be much benefit from using the surround channels for bi-amping.

22.9 is width, I measured height about 8 3/4"...

In use they look like the second picture (drivers not visible through the cover). I think the lighting they used for the pictures caused it to look like it's see-through but it really isn't. Here's a pic in my room... the pic is a little dark but you can see the covers are definitely not see-through.

I'm thinking about getting the 6.1's. Any thoughts on how the Yamaha 661 or 659 Receivers would do driving them?

Also looking to get the C3 and R3's.

Because of my budget, I'm forced to wait on the sub. Is the bass anemic on the 6.1 or would it be "passable" until budget permits a sub? I'm open to getting a sub prior to the R3's, if it's immediately essential.

I think the oz pic was with a bright flash making the fabric panel appear to be see through

Stephen, how do you keep the image from the screen from reflecting off the side of the 6.1's?

BTW, Stephen, I really like the minimalistic furniture below your screen. Matches the speakers perfectly. Could you gimmie a link to where I might find such stylin' furniture?

The yamaha 661 drives the 6.1's perfectly. I have the 6.1's driven by the 661 and have it set to bi amp mode. I could not be more happy with the set up. I just got the yamaha and they brought the swans even more sound. I prev. owned the panasonic xr55. You will not be disappointed. The 6.1's do deliver some great bass. When I listen to music, I have them in a 2 channel mode and not use the subwoofer.

The see-thru version was early production. All current production is opaque and you cannot see the drivers except by very bright light at just the right angle. Basically now we're using the standard black doubleknit stuff you see all over the market.

my wife really likes the 4.1's look, and they look much better than i expected to be honest. I'll have to take some photos soon and post them. I really want the 6.1's now that i have the 4.1's (just because given the bigger size of the box, and drivers, they must have enormous low end).. The 4.1's have a decent amount of bass.. They hit some extrordinarily low notes considering the size of the drivers.. It feel like a 10" sub at times, although the cross over makes it so the low notes don't get quite as much impact as they would with a subwoofer (because the rest of the music is louder).. If i turn the volume way up though, these things never seem to distort.. In fact, the only thing that bothers me is at high volume sometimes one of the speaker grills makes a slight noise (caused by vibration).. I just remove it though and it sounds great again (this only happens on some songs anyways).
Jon, is it true that there will be a floorstanding speaker in the same line as the d2.1se?
If so do you have any details of when they will be in stock? Since i don't have surrounds yet i'm thinking of using d2.1 se's but i'm not sure how they'll match up with the swans 4.1.. I may put the 4.1's in another room with a lower end reciever than what i currently have (onkyo 805) and then hookup a new set of d2.1se's when they come out.. I'll really have to stretch the bank for that though.

The 6.1 bass is more than passable in a small to medium size room with decent power... I'm 99% HT and have a killer sub (6 cu ft Ascendant Avalanche, flat to 18hz) but had to do without it for almost a year due to space constraints. The bass on the 6.1s was VERY adequate in a smaller room (12x12) and still adequate in a 15x20 room until I got the sub rebuilt.

As for the furniture... it's an $80 piece from Walmart... I bought it before I had the Swans (nearly 4yrs ago) and lucked out that the piano black top and bottom matched so well. The legs are actually silver but i covered them with a "cherry" color premium contact paper that i found for $6/roll at Target. The color is a spot on match, the grain is close (not as prominent grain), but there's no shine. I'm EXTREMELY happy at how well I was able to get it to match. I ended up with the Rosewood 6.1s on accident... I upgraded my BC 4.1s and OZ sent rosewood by mistake. My C3 was BC too so I ended up using the contact paper on it too (though you could see the BC around the drivers if you took off the grill) and everything ended up tying together very well.

The piano black and rosewood do throw off some reflection from the screen but it's not enough to affect the PQ or be very distracting. If i ever get to paint the room a darker color i think it'll be even less distracting. What you don't see are the Coaster Matine theater group (3 chairs), 2.1 BCs on 30" stands, ceiling mounted projector, subwoofer tucked away in a dormer, 5 framed movie posters, 3 framed DD/DTS/THX signs, and a 400 DVD shelf. Other than a few minor touches (mainly a valence to cover the screen case/mounting bracket, curtains have been replaced w/ brown microfiber since that pic) and my room will be pretty much finished up!

We're looking at a lot of options right now, mwolfe, so I think to be safe, we'll call these well-founded rumors and leave it at that, if you don't mind. I'd prefer to under-promise and over-deliver rather than the reverse.

well i hope the rumours turn out to be true. I'm not in any hurry so that sounds fine with me.
