IMO, black cherry is much closer to black. It is vinyl, hence the discounted price.

I am looking at the Diva 6.1's as a replacement for my old set of Paradigm's Studio 8os. (aluminum tweeter).

I am also looking to replace the Paradigm center as well.

I am currently using this set up for both HT & music listening.

The Paradigms do well for movies but they tend to wear on me during long periods of music listening.

Do you think the 6.1's are a step in the right direction?

FYI- Amp = Emotiva XPA-5 with UMC-1 processor.

I'm actually considering the same exact switch - Studio 80's to Swan 6.1's. Hoping for some feedback from those who may have compared them...

I wish I could say I have heard the 80's, but I can't. Shag, I live in Richfield, and would be happy to demo my 6.1 setup, everything from multichannel blu ray, to 2 channel SACD. Just let me know.

I run it with a Denon 2310 receiver. Nothing fancy, but gets the job done.

They're probably closer to burgundy, and the simulated grain ranges from black to approximately deep auburn.

The Faux Black Cherry is a economy PVC finish.


The 6.2 is so tall that in a usual seated, "front-row" position at typical living room distances, the tweeter is above ear level, which influences imaging. At greater distances, and especially where there is more than one row of seating, the 6.2 ideally addresses the audience.

The Diva 6.1, 5.2, and 4.2 are more suited for mixed-use rooms and should image better while saving space. Of course we're happy to provide the larger 6.2 for any use the customer finds successful, but pls realize that all X.2 models are identical except for the bass. If you do not need the 6.2's added bottom end, there's not a lot of advantage to them in a one-seat space and you may find the other models more workable.

real quick, can any comment on getting a pair of the older swan diva 2.1s for surround duty ?

would off axis listening be ok ?

I have a pair of the 5.1's in the nice Rosewood color that I thought I sold on eBay but the guy never paid up. So if anyone knows of someone looking for a like new condition pair have them email me.. other wise they are going back on eBay.... or perhaps I should try Audiogon?

Hey.. I just stumbled on this thread and dug up some old pics... some of the equip has changed but my 6.1, R3 and C3 are still going strong. The R3s are wall mounted and they make great shelves... I have the original C3 with top mounted tweeter... I bought the whole setup used in excellent condition for 1250.00 many years ago which was a steal IMO and I may just keep them forever

Ah the Diva's 6.1 and 6.2, i really like them but.....

Am probably the only one here that hates the wood color even the faux cherry black, i want them in glossy black like the ones on the German site but even in China you can't get them....

export only ********...I could live with the red-ish finish of the F2.2 because it's a gorgeous piano finish but they are out of my league...and really really big

Saw the 6.2 and they are huge...way bigger than the 6.1's and too big for my apartment but the thing i don't like is the center and rear speakers are from the 4.2 package which means only a 80w center speaker.

On the 6.1 package it's 150W center - i don't get the reasoning behind this...

KEF IQ90 was my second choice, no dipole surrounds...

Has anyone compared the Diva 6.1 or 6.2 to the Emotiva 6.3 or 8.3?

In retrospect this really doesn't have anything to do with Swan speakers - feel free to move it. Did find it here browsing through this Swan threat and got my enjoying the beautiful tracks on there...

Is there any history of Swans going on sale during the holidays?

We discontinued them but could return them for group buys in quantities of 18prs.

The premium finishes are EU-only and are truly expensive, vended through brick & mortar sales only.


I wouldn't worry too much about the center channel model's power ratings. Swan rates at about half the usual norm and both models are good for peaks of twice that and more, especially when set to small speaker. In roughly ten years we've never had a single Diva center broken by too much power.

I can't speak for all models but ours are already Internet-direct.

Frankly, with the recent popularity of black-box utility online subwoofers, we haven't yet found that we want to compete strictly on a dB-per-dollar basis. I'm not sure the model you linked is suitable for the Diva line, although two should be.

The Swan Diva sub cosmetically matches the fullrange Diva models and may therefore have appeal on that basis, but if all you need is loud, low, and cheap, there are lower cost options. Swan Diva's forte is in fullrange speaker value.

This is probably a stupid question, but does that preclude price reduction or sales?

Need a favor from C3 owners - can you please measure your speaker and let me know the actual height - I have checked the TAI, OZ and Swans sites and there are discrepancies in the height dimension. I have a restricted space for my center channel and would like to know in advance the actual measurement - appreciate your assistance.
Also - any impressions you wish to share on the C3's performance, vocal imaging & clarity - thanks

I wonder if your height discrepancies are because the older C3s had a top mounted tweeter instead of being built into the cabinet like they are now. I have the older version, and have always wanted to hear how different they sound.

I think the best answer I can give for our end of the Swan Diva equation is that the ID channel already provides an optimized situation every day of the year.

Correct, and we report them as 22.9" W x 10.0" D x 8.75" H. (A double-boxed C3 weighs approx 34lbs.)

Well, I'm a proud new owner of my first Swans, a pair of D1080MKIIs, but imagine my dismay when I rush them home only to have a serious problem upon hooking them up: an loud, angry buzz coming from both speakers and some faint radio(?) pickup in the background.

I've played with the cordage a bit to narrow down the problem, and I think it might be a grounding issue, but heck if I'm sure. The problem arises any time I turn the power on the speakers, regardless of whether any other cables are hooked up. If I change the plug in location from my computer power bar to a separate, bare plug across the room, the buzz subsides in volume but it's definitely still there.

In addition, plugging the RCA cables into the back of the right speaker increases the volume of the buzz a bit.

If I play with the cables while the speakers are turned on, or move the speakers around a little, both the buzzing and the radio pickup get louder or quieter.

Does this sound like a solvable problem, something with the plugs and cable arrangement perhaps, or is there a problem in the amp inside the speakers?

EDIT: The speakers work fine in another room... there's something going on in here, and it's obviously not the speakers themselves... time to narrow down the issue. (And they do sound glorious when everything's working properly.)

EDIT 2: Seems to be interference is being picked up by the RCA cables when near the windows... of course, my desk is against a wall with big windows. I hope there's a solution other than moving my entire room layout. Perhaps I need shielded RCA cables.
