They sound almost as good as my Dynaudio C2's for a quarter of the cost.

love those C2's garman, nice

I own a pair of 6.2s and have been trying to sell them for about 2 months. I have listed them on ebay, audiogon, craigs list and the emotiva forum. I've had a few nibbles but nothing firm and all offers were way below my asking price of $850. They are less than 9 months old and in perfect condition.

Are Swans just that unknown, is the price too high? Just can't seem to get any interest. I have been reluctant to ship because of their size so I know that has hurt me but I thought that I would have had alot more interest than what I have had.

I am totally torn between the M200MKIIs and the M50W. Anyone here know which offers more value and sounds better in a small room in a computer desk setup?

Should I maybe wait for the Swan H4 or H5 as well?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

Swans arent using Dynaudio drivers. Actually there are some factories wich are producing drivers based on the same license. Morel, Dynaudio, Swans, Lyeco etc. Eyvind Skaaning was designing the drivers actually, and alot more (Dyno...Morel...Audio Techonlogy...DLS... Skaaning).

But actually, the Hivi D6.8 is an upgraded version of the Dynaudio Esotec Midwoofer, so yes, its a pretty good driver.

Currently which swan speaker has the most value for money, quality and for music and HT?

Is it still the swan diva 6.1 series (with C3 and R3) ?

An informative post. It's also worth noting that the Swan part has a hybrid of Neodymium/ceramic ferrite in the motor. Neo is expensive but improves the motor's linearity.

Anybody know if the Swan D1080MkII08's would compare to Pioneer SP-BS41-LR bookshelf speakers (or other similar quality, inexpensive bookshelves with a cheap receiver? I would be using it for near field listening, mostly music at my pc. I know the Pioneers would support higher volume, but I'm more interested in SQ at low volumes for this particular setup.

I would greatly appreciate anybody's opinions on this. Thanks!

The M200 series product, now in it's twelfth year and third version, is a classic 2.0 channel studio monitor. It uses Swan's better parts for self-powered systems, and it's enclosure and tuning are suitable for relatively deep and natural bass plus good output levels for the 2.0 channel configuration.

By comparison, the M50W is a set of miniature satellites coupled to a 6.5"-based woofer unit. The drivers in the M50W satellites are not superior to the drivers in the M200 series speakers, and the design and tuning of the M50W satellites cannot compete with the M200 models above about 100Hz.

The M50W is a 2.1 channel system and has the advantage in the bass, and it also has the advantage in installation flexibility owing to smaller footprints on the desktop and the ability to move the bass system off the desktop. Beyond that and the M50W's stronger bass, the M200 is simply the more capable speaker for a two-channel system. The M200 can also be equalized to extend their bass output, but they will not play louder than the M50W down low.

For home theater use, is the 5.2 the best swan speaker to use for L+R?

I have a large subwoofer, and a small room...looking to replace my 2-way monitor audio bookshelf speakers to get bigger sound.

I saw someone here selling 5.2's the listing disappeared

Hi!

For small room i would buy D2.1 or M3, maybe 1.1. Just becouse you buy bigger speakers, you wont get better sound automatically. You need a speaker what fits in your room, place them well, and thats much more important then size. Also, dont forget quality amplification.

Instead of the 5.2 i would rather buy Rm300, or RM600 or the other types i meantioned above.

But thats just my personal opinion of course.

any m6005f owners in this forum care to share your experience with these new kids? So far there are zero reviews, no news about the whole HT package either.

Hi Jon,

Just curious where the D1010mkII08 and D1080mkII08 fit in in terms of midrange/treble quality...

Also, is there a price set for the H4 and Hsub when they arrive? I'm assuming they're a good bit more expensive than any of the above options, correct?

The M50W intrigues me. Any owners of the M50W care to comment on their experiences?

I'm interested in how this setup compares to other bookshelf/satellite + sub setups that you've also owned/heard.

I ordered some Diva 6.2F to match my M1, and C3. I will try to do a full writeup over the weekend as I test them with an LSA Standard amp.

I am interested in purchasing the M20w, but I would like some more info on them. How do they compare to the M10 speakers? How do they perform overall? Are they a good value for $150 + Shipping?
Considering the M200 MKII for my laptop setup. Or is there any model that you guy feel stand out? Also thinking about Diva 6.1 or 6.2s, but not sure which to get, for another room.

Seems this thread has lacked attention.

But Spezzy, you will get a better and more detail answer to your questions if you ask Jon from TheAudioInsider.com. He's knowledgable of their products and could recommend the perfect speakers for you given your needs and requirements.

Let me define small room...its 14' feet deep from the listening position and 22 feet wide. Maybe thats not so small? I have monitor audio book shelf speakers now sitting on stands, and i am looking to try tower speakers, so i am considering the swan 5.1's if i can find them...

Tundrsq,

The 5.1s should sound well in that size of room, just give them clean power to sing (I have mine paired with Nuforce's MCH300SEC7). I think these are the most underated speaker in the original Diva line. My room is similar in size, 15.5' x 25' with 9' ceiling. I have my fronts 3.5' from the walls and I use acoustical treatments. Now regarding finding the 5.1, contact Traxaudio, I have seen them advertise the 5.1s for sale http://cgi.ebay.com/Swans-D5-1P-Fron...item2559bb778f Depending on what finish you are looking for, do check with them in terms of what finish they are, black cherry is a vinyl laminate and the Santos Palisander is a real wood veneer.

Hi folks. In case you missed it, I've started a new thread in which I'll review and compare the new Dana 640i and the Swan D2.1se+ Customs. I thought a new thread was in order since it involves both Dana and Swan. Here:

thats what happens when you audition an exotic speaker at best buy. I had the same experience but then found a higher end dealer, and they blew me away. I actually favored them over the golden ears.
Has anyone had a chance to audition the D10 series yet? I've been looking for reviews everywhere, but can't find anything.

I just got a smoking hot deal on an Infinity Classia setup (5.0), but I'm still wondering if the 5.0, D10, or S600 would have been better options for a few hundred dollars more. Unfortunately Swan reviews/comparisons are pretty hard to come by. Anyone?
