Chevalier Tactics is a Japan game in development that may make its way here. I'll add it to the possibility list:
Quote:
Imageepoch isn't known for developing games for the PS3. They're more comfortable with the portables - their stalwart Luminous Arc series rested only on the DS, while Fate/Extra and Criminal Girls are for PSP. Their only home console release is Arc Rise Fantasia for the Wii. Now, the Tokyo-based studio is shaking things up with a PS3-PC game.
Introducing Chevalier Tactics. As the name might've told you, the game will be a strategy RPG just like their Luminous Arc games. The game will be set in medieval Europe, so that means swords, knights, and royalty. Among the character classes revealed so far are the usual fighter, knight, and wizard.
Japanese gaming mag Famitsu described two modes in the game. One is Simulation Mode, where you give out orders to groups of units at a time. The other is Network Mode, where you get to play in large-scale battles.
Chevalier Tactics will be released as a downloadable for the PlayStation Network and the PC at a yet to be announced date.
The interesting action-puzzler developed for PlayStation Move and supporting 3D visuals announced here a while back is now expected to be released on PlayStation Store on January 5th for $7.99/7.99, with PlayStation Plus subscribers getting a discount at $4.99/4.99. As explained in my previous coverage about the game, in StarDrone you control the trajectory of a drone launched in a zero-gravity environment via the centrifugal force generated by connecting and disconnecting its energy beam to special anchor points. It basically plays like pinball-meets-Breakout-meets-PixelJunk Eden, using the PlayStation Move-controlled pointer to select anchor points. Inertia does the rest.
A new racing title is coming to the PS3, this we found out thanks to ESRB. It's one called Racer Offroad, and it looks like Sony's gearing this up as a holiday gift. So what's in going to be in the package?
According to ESRB's description, Racer Offroad, is "a racing simulation game in which players can select and drive a variety of off-road vehicles. Players avoid obstacles (e.g., falling rocks, loose barrels, hay bales) as they race around outdoor environments and beat opponents’ lap times."
It may be coming as a retail title, but odds so far point to it being a downloadable one, if only for the fact that developer 2XL Games is more prominent for making titles for digital releases. We can't wait to find out more about this offroad racing game. We'll be keeping you posted on more details as they come.
When you get a chance, you might want to add this one to the list:

Coming Exclusively To PS3: The Tomb Raider Trilogy In HD
Last month we revealed the new Tomb Raider in the January issue of Game Informer. Personally I’m thrilled about the new direction Crystal Dynamics is taking Lara Croft and the Tomb Raider franchise overall. There is so much great stuff planned, I CANNOT wait until we can divulge more info.
If all this talk about Tomb Raider is making you nostalgic for the previous titles, I have great news ─ you’ll get to revisit three of them in The Tomb Raider Trilogy. Included are remastered HD versions of Anniversary and Legend as well as the final chapter in the trilogy Underworld. In addition, The Tomb Raider Trilogy includes an exclusive static theme pack, Lara Croft and Viking Thrall Home avatars as well as trailers that go behind the scenes of all three titles.
When can you get your hands on this fantastic offer? The Tomb Raider Trilogy will be available March 22nd, 2011.
The link clearly shows TWO covers--one for the EU region and one for the US region, so everybody should be getting this--even though it was posted on the EU blog.
The next Everquest and next Planetside will be announced soon and Sony has STRONGLY hinted that both will make their way to the PS3:
Quote:
Typically, releasing a MMO on a console is a risky idea. While MMOs have become a staple PC gaming, the genre just doesn’t work as well on consoles. Sony Online Entertainment seems to be trying to change that, though – DC Universe Online has already released for PS3, and games like The Agency, Free Realms and the next Planetside title are heading there in the future. Now, SOE has hinted to Eurogamer that the next Everquest game may be heading to their home console as well.
Interesting rumor from the Official Playstation Magazine. Konami might be prepping an HD Collection of Metal Gear Solid 1-3.
Quote:
An HD reworking of the original Metal Gear Solid trilogy is on the way to PS3, according to 'insider whispers' heard by the ears of the UK's Official PlayStation Magazine.
In the mag's new issue, in stores now, it reports that Snake is "in the facelift queue", and that the "first three" MGS games are set to be reborn in High Definition.
No details of release window, price or whether the trilogy will be a boxed or digital product are given.
However, any reworking of Kojima-san's much-loved original trio will be music to the ears of PlayStation nuts, with the games still very much considered classics of the genre.
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots is currently the only MGS title to be released for PS3. It enjoys a very healthy 94 per cent average review score on Metacritic. Could it be joined by its predecessors in full HD later this year?
PixelJunk Shooter 2 is coming your way on March 1:
Quote:
Hey PixelJunkies, the date has been set in stone – PixelJunk Shooter 2 will be released exclusively to PlayStation Network on March 1st! The glowing previews should begin flying in soon too (fingers crossed)!
Compared to the original, this game is packed even more full of lovely gushing liquid action across three entirely new worlds, and there is a whole new game in itself with the online versus mode we have put in there (over 20 weapons and abilities for you to use against your opponent!). This is why it has taken a little longer than expected to get this into your hands, but we’re really happy that now, after winging its way through the digital tapestry called “game submission,” it has been approved for release!
Keep your eyes peeled over the next few weeks as we have some very interesting things to announce and remember to tune into our PixelJunk Radio podcast if only to hear us talk in dulcet tones!
If you have any questions about Shooter 2, fire away below and either myself or Ariel will attempt to answer them!
A new God of War game for the PS3 may be in the works; a job listing to joining the GoW team was found according to this article.
this is awesome news. god of war 3 was great. but it's obvious that they can do even better given a second go round with the hardware. can't wait to see what god of war 4 looks like. but hopefully they get rid of zeus. that storyline is beyond overplayed at this point.
btw, what's up with the hideo kojima ps3 project in the op? i haven't heard of anything like that.
Kojima's secret title supposedly touches on taboo subject matter. It is rumored to be a PS3 exclusive.
I'm not sure why I had it in the main listing; I've dropped it down to the "exclusive PS3 possibility" rumor list and adjusted the totals.
hmm, i don't know what to make of that. it could have you shooting little kids, or be a rape simulator. i mean, outside of that, there's not much left that's taboo when it comes to games.
Okabu is coming to the PSN, which ign.com called the cutest game at the Games Developer Conference:
Quote:
A few minutes after my demo of Okabu started, I realized what it reminded me of. It wasn't Rolando, the extremely popular iPhone game that the developer Hand Circus is known for; it was the animated movie, Ferngully: The Last Rainforest.
My comparisons were simple: you play as a cloud shaped like a whale (not like the movie at all, but stick with me) battling the evil Doza, creatures running around in polluting machines. So there's a similar environmental agenda at work to help convert the youth of the world into being less wasteful. The music also reminded me of Ferngully – it was upbeat and bright, which made it really pleasant to listen to. The game is also a joy to look at -- the world is colorful and the clouds are so happy to be flying around, and even happier when they pick up water from pools.
Designed as a cooperative puzzle game, you take control of one of the little whale-clouds and precipitate on plants to clean up pollution and work your way through various levels. To aid you, there are several different heroes throughout the game that have special abilities. The one I saw, Captain Monkfish, has a harpoon to help pull down drawbridges and pull open heavy doors. Another hero, Picolo, charms animals that you can put to work. For instance, if you lead chickens to some shrubbery, they'll peck it to pieces, while a bull will ram objects and knock them down.
If you don't have friends in the house with you (this is another local co-op only game), you'll be paired with a second cloud that's controlled by artificial intelligence. Unfortunately, when I tried it out, the poor little guy got stuck often and was more trouble than he was worth. There are still a few months until release to get your cloud pal a better brain, though.
Although I had technical problems with the game (I got stuck in the environment and then kept falling off a bridge while trying to cross it), if Hand Circus cleans it up, Okabu could be a really cute, relaxing puzzle game. Still, I'm super-bummed about no online co-op here, either. It's a downloadable game; make it work online!
Okabu is scheduled to release on the PlayStation Network this summer.
Amy is being developed for the PSN by the crew that made Flashback in the good 'ol days:
Quote:
Lexis Numérique has today revealed an all-new title heading to PlayStation 3, Amy. Currently in development at VectorCell, Amy is the new game by Paul Cuisset, creator of mythic games such as Flashback and the Moto Racer series.
December 2034. Global warming has taken effect, spreading disease and natural disasters around the world. The small town of Silver City (Midwest, USA) has been directly affected by a comet that has come crashing down. When Lana regains consciousness, everything around her is just mayhem. Violent outbursts, fury, Electronic Theatre Imagerage, wreckage and death: the world she knew seems to have torn to Hell. As if struck by a mysterious virus, most of the ones she knew have now become part of a wild horde.
Despite her wounds, she knows she must run as far as possible to escape this nightmare: the viral process has begun inside her but she refuses to become one of them. The presence of Amy, a strange little girl who seems defenseless, will force her to make choices that will change both their lives. Infected humans, grisly creatures, Special Forces and even other survivors: they will have to trust and help each other to escape their pursuers in their attempt to survive.
Amy is currently in development exclusively for PlayStation 3, and is expected to be available in Q2 2011 via PlayStation Network. Electronic Theatre will keep you updated with all the latest details.

The God of War team is starting with twice as many employees for their next project than they started with for GoW III. It's not known if it is a sequel or a new game altogether:
Quote:
During this particular part of our growth, which we’re right now at about 105 full time, we’re gonna go to about 200 people which is still huge. I mean God of War II had about 60 people so we grew quite a bit during God of War III.
Adventure game Machinariumgets moved from our rumor list to the official coming soon list:
Quote:
Amanita Design's Jakub Dvorský revealed three of the firm's upcoming titles at GameCityNights festival in Nottingham last night, and all three are listed below. It was also announced that Machinarium would be heading to PSN.
This sounds interesting.... I wonder what sequel it can be?
Quote:
2011 is filled with exclusive PlayStation games developed by Sony Computer Entertainment, but if you were worried that they have overloaded the year with games, and left nothing for 2012, think again. The job listing asks for “an engineer to contribute to the studio’s ongoing PlayStation development, on a high-profile title scheduled for 2012 release.” However, it may not see release until the later half of 2012 as the game is still at an “early stage”.
Additionally, the game will almost certainly have online support, with the applicant expected to work on “backend online services” and have a “working knowledge of NP and PSN services on the PlayStation platform, and their in-title integration.”
What the game actually is, is unknown, but it is part of a huge franchise, and is repeatedly referred to as “AAA”. Possible sequels are even hinted at, with the job title allowing for the applicant to “play a key part in shaping its long-term future.”
It’s important to note that the studio never explicitly confirm that the game is their PS3 title – it could be Killzone on NGP – but considering that the listing prefers candidates with PS3 experience, and the fact that the company has recently put up several adverts for other positions on the PS3 team, it’s likely that this is indeed for the PS3.
Are you looking forward to a new MediEvil - the current bookies’ favourite – or are you hoping that the studio is working on a different franchise? Let us know in the comments below.
Heard of Adrift? Me neither, but it's been in development for a long time and is coming exclusively to the PS3 according to rumors:
Quote:
News today from Thesixthaxis says that the Sony’s Playstation 3 has bagged an exclusive title to their console which hopes to be a big release. The title has apparently been in development for three years, therefore developers must have high-hopes.
There is not much information regarding the game yet, however the source says that it looks to be set in a ‘futuristic gothic punk universe’ where the lead character ‘Edge’ could be voiced by Tercelin Kirtley who has worked with Ubisoft on other projects in the past.
The game looks like an action adventure game with a slight RPG twist to it. The concept art shows that there will be many beasts and demons that I’m sure will feature heavily as part of the story, however no official names or details have been announced. We can only say that a title has been confirmed for the PS3 and it looks to be a big hit for the console.
