Thanks guys and gals (just in case ).

Robert from **************** came through for me.
I already had a high regard for his contribution to this forum, but more than that, he's just a good human being.

If you need anything he carries, look no further! (No offence to the other great sponsors of this forum )

"Above and Beyond" is how Robert operates. You can look in multiple forums on AVS for verification

I do agree that the blue colorspace does make the hockey ice look as white as the jerseys (even though it isn't in real life).

See my settings and tweak a little. The ice can look like you're there live.

However I would think nobody would say you are paranoid for trying to protect your property.
Try this, go into a Best Buy and take a few DVDs and walk out the door with out paying for them and see what happens.
Hollywood employs a lot of USA citizens. And i for one think they should be able to make a living too.

Please do not misunderstand this post is not directed at you but at all the people that think they can go to there library check out some DVDs and then make copy's. So lets face the facts if everybody did this then there would not be any more DVDs.

Or perhaps, the stars would have to settle for less than winning the lottery for each movie they make.
No one ever got my permission to send microwaves containing movie content etc. into the airspace of my home, but, they say they can charge me with a criminal act if I access it without paying for it. That's a lot like sending a product to my home and billing me for it whether I want it or not. This kind of logic only makes sense in a world where the concept of a corporation is accepted as a responsible business practice.
Better PM me if you'd like further debate. This is way off topic.

Stop going to the movies, buying/renting DVDs or subscribing to Cable/Satellite/FiOS and their prices will come down soon enough.

Aside from your logic being completely warped, this argument was settled by the Courts long ago. Back in the early 80's, when people were sticking those little antennas out their windows and getting HBO for free.

You can't do it, period. It's theft.

Not in a constitutional court. Try finding reality somewhere other than the news media.

I don't have a problem paying for content. It costs money to make movies, TV shows, videogames, etc. and I would expect people to pay me for my efforts if I were creating them. Yes movie stars are overpaid, as are pro athletes, but we live in a free market society where we have decided that entertainment is more important to us than education.

No constitutional court would hear the issue, because the law is unambiguous.

The reality is simple; nothing is free!

This is my very 1st post.

I have been lurking on this Forum for approx 2 months researching plasma TV's. I must say what a wonderful site. With the information that I have gathered from this forum and others. I decided it was time to upgrade my old components. I choose to go with Pioneer. So 1st off I have upgraded to the VSX-94TXH receiver and the 95 blu-ray player. All that was missing was my Video. I was trying to decide between the 5010 or the 5020.
So I choose the 5020. I left a deposit on a pre-order which is due to come in shortly (hope). And to make a long story short, while waiting for the 5020.
I went with a co-worker to buy a plasma from a local ectronics store and while there I noticed a floor model PDP-5010FD. Its in perfect shape aside for its missing the speaker bar, the manuals and remote control. Which I could always get from Pioneer. The Plasma it self seems to be in excellent condition. Not a scratch on it. They plugged up Cable TV HD through Component Video cables. And connected Pioneer Elite 95 Blu-Ray DVD player. Picture was so beautiful. But my problem/questions are as follows:

1. How do I determine how many hours are on it?

2. Should the fans on the top rear come on as soon as TV is powered up or do they come on automatically when Plasma reaches a certain temperture?

3. Can I check hours and access menus with out remote or canI use my receiver remote being that it has some TV functions on it?

4. Is there something I should be looking for on these TV's

Needless to say I bought it in hopes that I got the TV I wanted for a steal. If it has to many hours on it I can always return it and wait for my 5020. but the flipside is, that it could have very low hours and in excellent shape and I just saved big $$$ and I can cancel my 5020 order.

Thanx in advance

The procedure for checking the hours is here.

The problem is you need the remote to access the Service Menu.
Go with the 5020. In the end, the improvement might not be great but you won't spend time second-guessing either.
If you have a Harmony remote you can set it up to control the 5010 and get to the service menu that way. As long as there is no IR/Burn In or bad pixels it should be fine but if you purchase the manual, remote, and speaker from Pioneer you may not end up saving as much as you think. I'd just wait for the 5020.
Either way, congrats on the new setup and welcome to the forum.

I was at my local Sony Style store today and had a chance to check out the new Bravias...

Keep at it Sony! You'll get there one day!

Just in general... Pitt's Coach was complaining about it earlier in the series. Who cares.... series over.

All good.

Which model Harmony would you recommend? I got such a good price on the TV that even if I purchased those item from Pioneer it still would be a substanial savings. Especially if i has very low hours on it.

I wish there was someone close that could check it out for me.

Any Harmony will work - they are a little pricey but I love mine. I have 3 of them for different rooms and they all work very well and are highly customizable. The newest, the Harmony One, is quite nice. Also, you can just download and print a pdf of the owner's manual from Pioneer's website so the only thing you'd need to buy from Pioneer is the speaker if you even need it. I run everything through my 6.1 setup so I've never hooked the speakers up to my 1150.
You could always purchase the remote, check out the hours on the set, and if they're too high for your liking, return both the remote and the set.

FINN360, I've been contemplating getting this remote. Do you have this particular model? Pretty good reviews and available @ Amazon for $199.

Also you should take a look at the Harmony 890. The reason i went with the 890 is because you do not have to point it at your hardware or TV. It has this feature "both radio frequency (RF) and infrared (IR) wireless signals". Matter of fact you can be in the next room with the door closed and everything will work as if you were in front of your TV. That is also a nice feature when you run your Audyssey setup on your A/V.

Yeah I've got a Harmony One for my main setup and two 670's for the bedroom and activity room setups. I definitely prefer the One. The buttons are in more logical places and it's more comfortable to hold. A little pricey but I love it.

Yeah that's a great remote but I'm fine with line of sight with my setup and I didn't want to fool with RF extenders and IR emitters. If you need RF though, that's the way to go.
