I see nothing wrong with enjoying mindless fun

I have a real soft-spot for comic book movies, as well as spaghetti westerns, exploitation movies, and other cinematic junk-food, so I say bring it on!

I have a soft spot for Eva Mendes, or maybe it's hard.... Oh yeah and mindless fun!

Oh man, you are so right. If they ever make a spaghetti western superhero exploitation movie....

I have been looking forward to this one for a long time. Not a great movie, but a fun title to have in Hi Def!

Both audio tracks only 16-bit? Think he's right on that?
Is the reviewer wrong? Is the TrueHD track an exact duplicate 16/48 resolution of the PCM track? If so, why bother wasting space with two different formats if they sound the same? If, however, Sony released the master 24/48 soundtrack on TrueHD then I wouldn't complain.

Well, I understand they're doing it for broad compatibility, but I DID think they were trying to put out 24-bit TrueHD tracks. I mean, several of the PCM tracks have been 24 bit, so if you're going to bother with two lossless tracks...

Agreed. Glad to hear the PQ & AQ are top-notch! Looking forward to my copy next week.

Pre-ordered this one a long time ago. Looking forward to getting it next week from amazon. The trailer for Ghost Rider is one I show a lot on my PS3 to people who are not sold on how great HD can look.

What is thsi year, hate on every comic movie that comes out? Seriously, what were people expecting out of Ghost Rider, Shakespear? We are talking about a movie based on a comic about a man who transforms into a freaking flaming skeleton bounty hunter, WTF do you expect??!!

Anyway, great to hear that the video and audio are excellent, and this movie was excellent so I'm quite sure this will be even better.

Amel, to answer your question, Eva's acting is about as sloppy and halfassed as her looks. She has no emotions whatsoever in any movie she does, and she can't even act pretty.

Everyone finally got there wish and they can compare the AQ between DTHD and the PCM track. Looks like in the review there is not much difference at all. The PCM of course being a space hog. I am looking forward to hearing what a full blown DTS-HD MA track sounds like if Sony, Toshiba and the other companies get on the ball and release a firmware update for it. I can tell you this the T2 HD DVD from France sounds amazing and I am only getting the DTS 1.5.

Looks good for PQ and AQ.

Too bad the movie itself was crap.
contemplating on picking this up, i enjoyed the movie in theatres even though it was cheesy it was still entertaining. glad to know that the PQ and AQ are nice.

i know the two lossless tracks might be a waste of space and i wonder how much space is left on the disc. if there is still space left on the disc then why not add it. but if there isnt space on the disc and the extra pcm track was put on in lieu of some extras or a higher bitrate (although it seems that this wasnt the case in terms of video quality) than that is a problem.

my 2 cents...

I'll pick this up if Amazon adds this to their Buy 2 Get One Free sale.

My guess is they are wrong just like I think they were wrong about Stomp the Yard (where I believe it was 16/48 for the PCM track and 20/48 for the TrueHD track). I've asked paidgeek about this one in the insider's thread.

Unlike Training Day she keeps her clothes on in this one, but the true mark of a sexy woman is one that improves the circulatory functions of a 52 year old fart like myself while *keeping* her clothes on!

But there's the problem, there should've been a difference!

The DTHD should have sounded better because it has a higher sampling as paidgeek mentioned several times.

Hmmm..Iv got a hard spot for Eva Mendez... SHE IS FINE!!!!..

The TrueHD track is 20-bit. The bit rate for the audio never dropped below 2.2 mb/s in the scenes I sample the audio bit rate in and peaked around 3.8 mb/s. That's too high for 16-bit and too low for 24-bit. The PCM track is 16-bit, 4.6 mb/s.

The TrueHD track is the default audio (nice).

The soundtrack is a really fun mix, and the TrueHD sounds simply spectacular.

Oh yeah, the video transfer and encode are gorgeous.

Probably the best BD from Sony so far, at least the ones I have seen (most of them).

I love comic movies, but even I couldn't stomach this one. I mean, there's mindless fun, and then there's THIS.

I'd buy it if it even had some decent action sequences to show off, but it doesn't even offer that. Though I will admit the CG was pretty solid. But other than that, there is no way I could recommend any part of this movie.
This movie sucked at the show...Maybe a rental at best.

I'll say only this...

A friend and I saw this in the theater. He, being a serious comic book collector who went to see the movie to compare comic accuracy, even turned to me during the movie and said, " Is it me or is every scene with Eva show more cleavage than the grand canyon?"

The director always had them in frame.

Or were asking about her acting ability? That I didn't notice.
