the A2 is the way to go. Also the panny plasman tend to give a better picture when using component and not hdmi i've read.

I have both. Go with the A2.

A2 for sure.

xbox add on is reasonable I'd say only if you already have a 360 (or plan to get use out of one) and are ok with not having advanced audio. You can get 720p out of the add on with component or vga.

I have the add on and like it very much, but it's hard to recommend now that the A2 can be found for so cheap (and with the free movies from Toshiba). Plus, the dvd upconversion is better.

I owned a 360 add-on and sold it for the A2. Get the A2. With the current promotions you should be able to get one for under $250 and also get 5 free HD DVD movies (mail-in rebate).

A2 without a doubt. Without.

I read that if your receiver doesn't support HDMI or DTS, you can only get 2-channel audio from the HD-A2.

I got the XBox Add-on for $140 from CC w/ their promotion, but it would be nice to have a quiet standalone. I'm loving it otherwise though.

Sound is so much better than DVDs though, even with just DD 5.1 from the XBox.

You can make that HDDVD Add On look better

Today, I put skins on several of our consoles, etc, plus some painting to go along with it.

Where'd you get the skin/case for the HD DVD drive? I've only seen skins available that do not cover the air vents.

The skin is from DecalGirl, and I painted the air vent holes with a marker

I don't care for the white, thus leading to the total coverage of the Add-on.

When the warranty runs out on the 360, it will get the same treatment on the vent holes.

Maybe someone has done this treatment to their stand alone HDDVD player?

Come on guys, someone has done this I bet Hmmm maybe I'll give it a whirl on my A1.
