I called pioneer support and asked them if it was ok for me to leave the tv on for 6.5 days straight running the break in dvd. They said that wouldn't be a good idea. However, he admited to me he was part of the weekend skeleton crew and that I should call during the weekdays to get someone with all the resources (I guess that means someone more than just a receptionist with a manual, although he was a great customer service rep...). So I'll ask you all (who I most humbly revere as experts in Pioneer plasma displays) if running my PDP-5080HD for 6.5 days straight playing the break in dvd is the most optimal thing to do? I have an extra tv so I can live a few weeks just looking at my new plasma instead of actually watching it, so no requirements to have to watch it sometimes and break in other times. So in my situation, what should I do? Marathon run of 6.5 days, or 8/12/16/x hours a day, turning it off for the rest of the time, and keep going till I hit 150 hours? Also, I read in another thread's first post that Evangelo2 (creator of the disc) ran it for over 200 hours (non-marathon) and was planning on continuing running it till he hit 1000 hours (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=583089
). What total # of break in hours should I shoot for? After what break in period can I watch as much SD and letterbox content as I want with 0 burn in fears?
Thanks for the info on these two questions (marathon or not; and total # of hours for guaranteed break in). And again, this forum is unbelievable! It's my project while breaking in to go page by page and try to take it all in. Thanks!!!
