Samsung HL-T67xxW info **NO PRICE TALK OR WHERE TO BUY!!

Samsung website lists a HLT6756 but I have also heard of a hlt6779 which might be the Costco model, that or the other way around though i think its the hlt6779 that is listed in teh Costco coupon book with an August availability.

dont know what the difference is but neither is LED as far as i know but I do like the all black with blue light look of the 6779 from pics i've seen as opposed to the 6756 on samsung website with silver bottom speaker and same circular power button.

67" is the way to go. 61" is to small while 71 and this year 72" is too much of a jump. they need an in between 65" and the 67 inch is great but rare model but they must have done well cus this year there is supposed to be more then on 67''.

last year hls6767 was mostly at Costco and had the hls guts but the hlr floating casing from the year before which many prefered so it was a win win.

I just saw the new HLT6756W at Costco: it looks very nice from the front. I was able to see the part number on the side, and it did say 6756.

Whats the pricing on the 67"? I always liked the 61" Sammys but preferred the 65" sets more so the arrival of a 67" is awesome news....

I currently own the HL-S6767W. It has a beautiful picture, exceot for the frickin SSE. I'd be the first to jump on one of these new models, if they significantly can reduce the SSE.

It was 2699 today at Costco: better than the online price for the 6767 by $50.

Are these lamp or LED sets?

That's the old 67" - HL-S6767W, Costco part number 116767. The new one is the HL-T6756W.

Yes, it came with a stand, and the stand had two shelves as opposed to the one shelf on the 6767. It was at the Costco in Southlake, TX. They had one on display, and two in the box.

I like the looks of the hls6779 better from the early pics but only hls 67'' on samsung site so far is the hls 6756 which costco is getting and apparently now has. its going on sale in august or at least with the coupon in booklet mailed to members though I never got it.

I recently ordered a hls6187 led slim dlp for another room and really wanted to try a diff brand and tech to have some variety preferably a jvc lcos but 70'' though I found a great deal for $2395 the stand was 500 and I couldn't find it anywhere else really for less so I said forget it. good thing too because the jvc doesn't do 1080p over component or vga supposedly so I'm sticking with samsung especially for use with xbox 360 it seems to be the best.

plus I really didn't want another even huger rp set that is tough to move to diff room, return or sell. even though these rp microdisplays aren't as big as cr the 67 and 70 in. ones are still like 20'z deep and overall huge.

costco has the jvc super slim (not as thin as plasma or flat lcd but thinner then samsungs ''slim'' and ''ultra slim'' dlps) and wall mountable lcos. 58'' is too small for me though so I'm waiting for the 65'' version to come out. its delayed but supposed to be by the end of july.

I really wanted 65'' for basement but only 65s for rp sets are dlp like toshiba or olevia lcos which was rated last I think on home theatre mag 2007 roundup while samsung was 1 and jvc 2.

so now that I got 61'' for basement I could maybe drop to 65'' for the slimness of the jvc in that size. so ill wait till that comes out and decide between that and the sam hlt6756.

speaking of lesser cabinet depth, all the new samsung are I think, the non led being called ultra slim with with a slight less deep and squarish non sloping back hile the led are just ''slim dlp'' not ultra slim though I don't know how they call it ultra when its not nearly as thin as jvc's slim line lcos. rumor they might having problems with them and why 65'' version is delayed. as well even the 58'' has some geometry problems.

point is I wonder if the hlt6756 is slimmer? samsung site has specs on it? hls6767 is like 19 something inches. so if the hlt6756 is less that's an improvement but what else is new added or improved on the hlt6756 from the hls6767? seems like nothing really and I don't like the hlt6756 casing plus I think its basically same as the hlt6187 I'm already getting. I like the hls6767 floating casing better and the pic of hlt6779 which has a new diff casing from most other hlt models though I think I saw pic of a couple othe hlt models with the same casing as hlt6756.

free stand though with costco model really helps. I got hls6767 for 2500 during a 1-2 week sale and it never went back down that low. the 70'' jvc never dropped below 3k that I saw bit had stand and best I found recently was 2395 plus 500 for stand so didn't do it and glad I didn't do that or the jvc 61fh97 either cus the jvc doesn't do 1080p over component or vga. samsung I think is only one with 1080p over component and its nice feature that comes in handy sometimes.

if hlt6756 is less deep the hls6767 that will interesting good news so someone verify the hlt6756 depth compared to hls6767's 19 something inches.

supposedly no led model above 61'' this year but the 67 is next size up so maybe next year.

I wonder when the hlt6779 which I like the looks of better or the other 2 supposed samsung 67'' models besides hlt6756 are coming out though not interested in the 720p one, so really just the hlt6779 and the other 1080p 67'' hlt model mentioned earlier in this thread.

going to be a pain to return sell or exchange the hls6767 for hlt6756 but I'd have to rent truck to pick up the hlt6756 anyway.

most likely going to choose between costco models so right now would be between the 65'' super slim jvc lcos if it ever comes out and the hlt6756. unless costco gets another 70'' jvc but I don't think they made new reg depth jvc this year just the 58'' super slim one.

jvc must hate samsung taking all their business and calling new dlps slim and ultra slim when they not even close to as thin as the jvc let alone wall mountable.

The owners manual is on the Samsung website and shows the dimensions to be 62.4W, 44.3H, and 19.1 deep.

So since Gurn spotted one in the wild, I stopped by my local Costco here in Southern California and it was on the floor right next to the old HL-S6767W. The new one is definitely the HL-T6756W like Gurn said. The only thing I noticed is that there is no silver strip like the picture on Samsung's site, it's all black and really looks good.

IMO the SSE has not improved, and looks about the same as the previous HL-S6767W.

The picture looked a lot brighter than the old HL-S6767W sitting next to it but it probably is because the bulb on the old one has a lot of hours on it.

Quality/technology wise......any major differences or improvements on the new model over the prev model?

Is the discounted older model worth picking up at all over the new one.

The discounted older model is about the same price as the new one, so I don't see why you would want to get the older one unless you like the older cabinet style and/or the single shelf stand better. Plus, with the coupon in August, the new one will be even cheaper than the discounted older model.

I too saw the HL-T6756W at Costco today (in San Antonio, TX). It was $2799.99 and was bundled with the stand. I'm wanting to use the $400 off coupon that is good for 8/6 - 8/12 assuming it's a good set.

19.1" deep? that's basically same depth as the old one which was like 19.4 or something.

that's a bit of a disappointment since all other hlt models have a slimmer cabinet depth then their previous year hlt counterpart.

I imagine though everything else on the hlt6756 is as good or slight better then the hls6767 thoug

actually the pic of the box reads 17 some inches depth so that is a slight about 2" improvement.

also good news to me that its all black even though samsung website shows the hlt6756 with the silver stripe. I'm just not crazy about how that looks and my hlt6187 will have it. I like the way hls6767 looks all black.

bezel seems slightly thinner on this but still not as much as other hlt models for some reason. shiny finish though is nice as opposed to matte of the 6767.

also new is the atsc/qam tuner that hls6767 didn't have.

waiting to see how the new 65" jvc super slim lcos if it actually comes out & costco gets it end of this month and compare it to the hlt6756 but considering I have 67" now it will be hard to downgrade 2" just for super slim depth.

if at costco check out the 58" jvc super slim lcos. not much thicker then flat lcd or plasma and is wall mountable unlike samsung models which are called "slim dlp " for led models which seem to just have a slight less deep version of same sloping rear as old ones and "ultra slim" non led models which have a slimmer non sloping squarish cabinet depth.

so this hlt6756 being non led shame its not less then 17" deep and called ultra slim dlp.

paid 2500 for hls6767 which was lowest it ever went so return of it should give me 100 extra to pay for truck rental but may want to wait till this tv drops even lower around holidays and superbowl as the previous model did.

Can someone explain how bad the SSE is on this TV, or the old one. I keep hearing about the SSE, and am trying to find out if its a deal killer. Your thoughts

The SSE is about the same as any other Samsung model so if you want to gauge it for yourself, just go to any Best Buy, Circuit City, etc. to look at the current lamp based HL-T's or even the older HL-S's.

A truer test would be to see a properly calibrated display, and that most likely will not happen on a big box retail floor.
Once these new units get out into wider consumer distribution then their OOB PQ can be further tweaked and refined.

I guess it depends if he wants to get his set professionally calibrated. If not and if he's not going to go into the service menu himself, seeing a professionally calibrated set's amount of SSE won't help him decide if the SSE on a non-calibrated set is a deal breaker for him.

The HL-Txxx6 sets aren't HDMI 1.3? I thought only the 5 wasn't 1.3 of the lamp based 5,6,8 sets?

The manual suggests using a 1.3 cable to connect DVD/Set top box to it's HDMI port.

Let's put it this way. The only Samsung model that I'm sure has HDMI 1.3 is the LED HL-xx79 series. The others might, but I don't know how to test for the 1.3 version of HDMI. Either way, it doesn't make much difference at the present time.

I have a PS3 that supposedly can take advantage of the higher color depth of HDMI 1.3. But mainly I want it to future-proof since I don't buy TVs very often.

Assuming it does not have HDMI 1.3, does anyone have a feel for how important this could become in the future? I mean I'm not that concerned about 24 bit color vs. higher, but I wouldn't want to be incompatible with some future technology. So does the HDMI spec require backwards compatibility? Something like USB 2.0 devices always work on 1.1 systems?

Quatre, you can call Costco's customer service number at 800-955-2292 and request the summer coupon book: that's what I did since I didn't receive one either, and it took about two weeks for it to arrive in the mail.

I asked one of the well known Samsung calibraters that posts here frequently, and he couldn't comment on the 6756 since he hasn't evaluated it. I would hope that the new model will be at least as good as the 6767 which was quite spectacular. My guess is that the coupon will bring the price down to 2299 in August.

I have to wonder about the 62" height dimension. I have a 61" Sony std def XBR, and according to Samsung's stated height w/stand, the Sammy is taller than my massive Sony. When I'm standing next to the Sammy in Costco, I think that there's no way that this thing is taller than my old Sony. (the sony has extra height because of the heavy furniture-like top and the thick base with casters). This is important to me because I need the Samsung to be shorter in order to convince my wife to let me get it.

HDMI 1.3 and all future versions are backward compatible. Also, the added capabilities of HDMI 1.3 are only options. There is no requirement that any of them be implemented by the manufacturers of the devices using HDMI.
