OK, I'm not going with BB. From their website: http://www.blockbuster.com/help/faq/687

This means HD discs feature higher definition video and audio, as well as advanced interactive features. As soon as high definition movies are released, BLOCKBUSTER will make them available to our subscribers. The very first HD DVDs were available on our site April 18, 2006.

I didn't realize Blu-Ray had higher resolution than HD-DVD.
Oh, it doesn't. They're the same.
I can't bring myself to spend money on a company that ignorant.

Decided to keep Netflix past my trial period. So far every turnaround, from pickup at my mailbox to delivery of the new one, has been two days. And I've gotten each in the order I've listed.

I joined Netflix last night, and I'm expecting my first 3 HD DVDs from them tomorrow. Pretty awesome.

I currently have the BB 3 at a time unlimited and 5 in store exchanges per month with 1 free game or movie rental per month for around $17/mo.

I agree with most of what has already been said about the service. The turn around time is very fast with the in store exchanges. I used to have netflix and the turn around times seem to be about the same (for mail ins).

One thing I have noticed is that most of the BD titles have waits associated with them. The HD DVD titles usually do not (at least not as many). This would seem to support BB's claim that their customers were choosing BD. Anyway, I have been getting a lot of HD DVD's from them lately because all of the BD's in my que say "very long wait".

So I have been considering switching to Netflix so I can finally get some BD's as well. Otherwise, I have been very happy with the service and the in store exchanges would be hard to give up.

BB tends to have long waits in my area for HD DVD and Blu-ray. I have found NETFLIX to be much better in getting me the movie that I want in a timely manner.

i have a queston about bb a little off topic

anyone else stopgetting movies at the begening of the month? i still have 14 days on my 4 at a time unlimited and they stoped sending dvd. i emailed them and they told me that i need to sign up for a new plan....

I haven't used netflix.com and to date I've only rented 2 HD titles from the blockbuster web site but fortunately I found a BB store that carries both HD-DVD and blu-ray titles so I've returned assorted titles for HD-DVDs (and 1 blu-ray disc) in store. I know that I'm going to have less opportunities for that but (shrug) I can still pay for rentals if I'm ever inclined.

I primarily use NETFLIX (3 at a time) plan but I do have a one at a time plan with BB for the in store exchanges. BB has not changed anything on me except for the in store limits on my free exchanges. I may cancel BB shortly because of their new policy concerning this.

I recieved both Hot Fuzz and Blood Diamond from NETFLIX the Tuesday of there release from NETFLIX on HD DVD. I post this because someone has started a thread concerning the fact that they have not received these titles from NETFLIX yet on HD DVD.

I saw an old friend today who is a mailman. I asked him how many Netflix they move compared to BB. His impression is about 90% Netflix. I know this does not include store returns and I can't imagine that the ratio is really quite that high, but it does reinforce the poll numbers in this thread.

I have rented both Blood Diamond and Hot Fuzz in HD DVD from NETFLIX. Has anyone else rented these movies from NETFLIX? Someone has started a post claiming that both of these movies are impossible to rent from NETFLIX. I am glad that I can now claim that I have accomplished the impossible not once but twice.

I have rented both these movies, as well.

I started out with Blockbuster Online when they closed my local Blockbuster about a year ago. I switched to Netflix for their speedier turnaround, and I have found their access to both HD HVD and Blu-Ray to be pretty good (I am format neutral). My one gripe with Netflix is that their website doesn't lend itself to the kind of browsing I used to like to do in the B & M Blockbuster. I don't want some computer telling me what it thinks I'll like--my taste is all over the board.

I noticed someone started a thread knocking NETFLIX. NETFLIX sent me the new Fantastic Four and Black Book on Blu-ray and The Wild Bunch on HD DVD. These were the titles I had at the top of my queue. BB continues to list many of the new titles as coming soon or unavailable.

So far so good with Netflix for me. I signed up Monday night, and Knocked Up, Hot Fuzz, and Children of Men arrived yesterday. Now only if they all weren't stupid combos.

I got both of these from Netflix back when they first came out. I wouldn't think they would be hard to get at this stage. By the way Blood Diamond is an awesome movie for those that haven't seen it, and Hot Fuzz is pretty good too.

Yeah, they rip you like that. If you cancel, they immediately stop sending movies even if you have another 15-20 days on your current plan.

BB=Bad Business.

I used to have Netflix and was very happy with their service, no problems. I switched to Blockbuster Online when they offered the "in-store" exchange, though I rarely use it. However, this was before BB decided to side mostly with Blu and I contemplated canceling my account to show them my discontent with their decision. But I thought about it..... if everyone who supports HD DVD canceled we would be reaffirming, through rental numbers, that they made the right decision and that Bluray was the way to go. So I am still with Blockbuster for now until they give me a reason to cancel. I am also lucky that the store near me carries HD DVD with the same shelf space as Bluray in Maryland.

I just joined BB last week and have a similar plan than you. I decided to go with the unlimited in store exchanges and get my blu ray movies in store and have the hd dvd's mailed to me. I figure this is the best way. Its nice to be able to return a movie and get a new one same day. I figure I can get my 20-30 movies per month that way. I like to watch a movie every night on my new home theater. 128" scope with BD and HDDVD is freaking awesome.

Getting a BD from BB is like watching grass grow. Also you have to drive all over the place to find a BB that is renting BD. I finally got Fantastic 4 from one that is about 30 miles from my house.
